It isn't. At least the first 2 aren't. Don't get me wrong they're good films but Lord of the Rings films are on a other level. Me and my better half did a movie a day leading up to Christmas eve. Watch them every year around this time.

They're different. The Hobbit (book and movies) is more on the funny side whereas LotR is pretty serious most of the time. That said, the second Hobbit is easily the best movie I've seen in 2013.

The Wolf Of Wall Street will be your fav. film. I've been talking about this since I read the book some years ago. It's on my top 10 list. "The Wolf Of Wall Street" and "Catching The Wolf On Wall Street." It's pure debauchery!

It's not out yet in Germany (I think) so it doesn't count for 2013.

I've seen the trailer though which spoiled half the movie (seriously, trailers these days) and I liked it a lot.

Grab the book from your local book store. It'll add to the anticipation.

Why is it during Christmas time I feel like indulging in all you can eat dessert buffet!

Me too. To have at least a little change, I started to watch them in a different language each year

I didn't have problems with the Hobbit being funnier, as the book just is more of a children's book, but the CGI overload was too much for me and somewhat ruined it a bit - in particular in the 3D/48fps version, the 2D/24fps version was better.
