For those who don't know, The Atheist Experience is a TV show where atheists hosts take callers and discuss atheism/religion.

It's funny a lot of the time, but can also be serious and interesting. The stupidity of some of these people is astonishing.

First off...Viacom took that video down.

Secondly, 6th grade science can't explain the things that O'Reilly was asking.

You're right, it's not 6th grade, it's 3rd.

I've helped teach 3rd grade classes and they teach you about the planets, the moon, they show videos on how it all works and the how it is here.

And yet it doesn't at all explain how it all got there.

Because there is no explanation. Period.

Or you can go here:

http://science.howstuffworks.com/question777.htm

Is there a definite answer? No, but there are multiple theories that make sense and add up to the reason the moon is here.

If you're talking about it "all" got here, as in the entire universe, no, we don't know, but there are theories about that as well, and none of them have magic attatched to it.

I don't know doesn't = magic. Which is why the whole audience is laughing.

Also, we do know how the tides got here which is one of the things bill was saying we don't know, we've known that for a very long time, and Bill asks why earth is the only planet with a moon, yet he is wrong about that as well, and is all explained very early in school.

O'Reilly's entire point wasn't about the literal moon and tide.

Poor diction aside, O'Reilly's point is valid, these so-called theories of the origin of the universe aren't even close, and probably never will be.

Even the most avid of Atheistic microphysicists won't suggest that they could answer that.

His point isn't valid at all.

He asks how the tides work - We know. He asks how the moon got here - We know enough for any logical, reasonable person to understand how it's there, we have theories that add up to it perfectly. He asks why the earth has a moon and mars doesn't - Mars has 2 moons.

He's a blubbering idiot that doesn't understand 3rd grade science, and because of his lack of understanding of childhood education, he believes in magic.

As for the universe, we don't konw that. Yet.

I thought it was simple, rather than seeing the rant as some pre-historic, Native American polytheistic-esque rant, that Bill was simply asking how and why would the world exist...

That being, an ecosystem capable of supporting sentient life, rather than on Mars or any other place else we know of.

Furthermore, how the ecosystem is so perfectly capable of supporting these beings, etc.

Taking things literally seems to be the bane of the left brained people.

Take what O'Reilly said at face value and look at the macro encompassing theme he's talking about, rather than "Bill said we don't know where tides come from, but we do, he's dumb."
