Careful with the torrents...

Zuffa has wised up to torrents, and is now sending out DMCA letters. They appear to be sitting in on TPB torrent swarms, and recording all of the peers.

How do we beware of them? Whats the word on them finding people downloading this crap? Are they only really searching for someone downloading like crazy or even the simplist of music downloader should beware?

Villian 06-19-2009 03:06 PM

what are DMCA letters?

Fortunate for me, I keep DVDs.

They (actually, the company they hire to watch for them) use a special bittorrent client. They join the regular torrent swarms, and to all of the other clients, they look like a regular connection. So, Knockin, if you download through any public tracker, you are taking a chance.

Here is an example of a DMCA letter.

Peerguardian is your friend. Not to mention Canada is still pretty lax on the subject.

Who would do something like this? How utterly shocking. :sarcastic01:

why torrent when you can usenet?

usenet has been around forever and is based on the 'honor' system, like a mail client... they assume a person posting data will give their real info (NOT!)

So are these DMCA letters anything more than just a "Hey don't do that" letter?

Also, how does this Peer Guardian work? Can people still seed off of you? Does it just block companies like the one Zuffa has hired to catch you?
