People can believe whatever they want. Having something to hold onto in life is always nice. We can all sit here and post what we believe and what not. But in the end, none of us will know what's on the other side until it's all over, and there is no denying that.

Well you see thats not really true. Because if there is no god or life after death which I believe to be the case, then death is the end of consciousness and knowing. So for us here and now is the only possible time for us to know this.

Well its an infinitely better outlook than most of the crackpot religions who believe in hell, now that is a sad outlook.

It's a realistic outlook.

Having something to hold onto is nice? Thats a pathetic reason for believieng in your religion and you know it.

I don't think holding onto the belief in something greater than yourself is pathetic at all. I don't get dragged into arguments on religion so I'll just leave this thread alone for the time being. People get way too emotional. People can believe whatever they want. Some just aren't comfortable with that, and want to force their beliefs or non-beliefs on others.

Why does it have to be sad? What is so sad about accepting that this life right now is all we'll have. Why does there have to be something more? For me, there is much more beauty in accepting things as they are without resorting to bronze-age mythology to explain it. There's no "second chance" there's no "oh well i messed up this life, I'll have another shot later". You see a mountain and you accept its beauty for what it is, no for some god which you think might have made it.

This post was meant to be way more articulate that what it came out, but I'm late for uni.
