Valentine's Day, bitches

If you're going to be by yourself, get a bottle of your favorite libation, a bunch of DVDs, so you don't have to watch all the super ghey and annoying jeweler commercials, which are already driving me insane. Then order your very favorite food and eat yourself into a happy stupor. That's what I did when I was single, and that's what I do now that I'm married. Except I have to share the bottle, which sucks.

If you're part of a couple, especially a new couple, start thinking about it now. A member made the wise observation that holidays like this are better observed by new couples, but there's a few couples here and there of long duration with a wife/GF concerning whom, I will go out on a limb and say she's high-maintenance.

Sure, women love chocolate and flowers. They also love getting stuff they wouldn't buy for themselves, not because they don't like it but because they don't want to spend the money. This is the time to listen carefully and ask loaded questions. What's her favorite restaurant? (For real. Not the one she suggests b/c she knows you'll spaz off if she mentions the OTHER one). Do you notice her going through a particular perfume/lotion etc quickly? Do you KNOW what she likes in that regard?

Failing that, they heart gift cards to wherever they shop, just like you do. Oh, and women LOVE a man who can cook.

HTH. Go forth and do work!

Yeah I already got a bracelet picked out because I saw the lady eying it at the mall. We're going to see a show in LA so it should be fun.

I'm going in, armed in red- Red wine, red roses. Then I'll cook for her (and yes I do it well).

As a present it'll be lingerie. (For her not me perves!), because that gift is not only appropriate and expressive on many different levels, but I'll enjoy it as well.

I got her a massive teddy bear, chocolates and we are cooking together

I also am making her a scrapbook of our pictures. She should like this a lot, she likes creative gifts more then material gifts.

Hallmark-type places, department stores, toy stores, most likely.

My wedding anniversary is 2 weeks after Valentine's Day, so we don't always do a lot for the latter.

Last year we were broke as hell from remodeling the kitchen, so we got pizza and wings and a lot of wine, and sat on the couch and watched the modern classic "Blood Monkey."

you guys have it all wrong..this v-day happens to fall on the same day as the daytona 500. that means this year, its all about me, i will be sitting on the couch, and snapping my fingers whenever i need another beer. This is what she will get...a card and nothing else. im not making anything, im not cooking anything, and im definitly not buying any jewelry. i just bought her this brand new house, so you know what that means, more rooms to clean!
**now in realty none of this will happen because the couch is not a good place to sleep**
