What determines your rep value?

What determines how many points you will give/take when you rep someone?

Sometimes people rep you and you get like 30 points, other times you get 300, why?

Rep is earned over time, it should not be given out as neg rep if you simply disagree with someone. Many people are members for a long tme and have built up their rep...I have over 3.5 million points so when I rep you it will have a mojor effect, there are others on this board with hella more than that....when you neg rep someone half of your rep value is given where if you pos rep its 100%

All the answers are in the FAQ section if you need anything else... Welcome!!!

So does that mean if you neg rep me, I will be -1.25 million?

Awesome.

EDIT: Thanks, by the way, honestly I still at this moment cannot see anything about it in the FAQ section. I even searched "reputation" and nothing shows.

Anyone want to get neg repped by me? I wanna see how hard I neg rep.

I know I rep really hard though. I moved someone from 1 green bar to 4 or 5 at times.

I think that we should have a higher max green... there are people on here with 65 posts and they have max green, the same as people with over 3k posts.... just saying. It makes rep seem a little pointless if someone with so few posts can get full rep from 1 or 2 positive reps.
