Edit: Can't believe I forgot to include Jews in that list. I've failed you Godwin's Law.
They are not rehabilitated.
Do you have children? If you do ask yourself this. Do you want on of these sick individuals in your neighborhood? If they arent in jail or dead then where do they go?

I would actually prefer the death penalty over keeping them in jail, but this seems ok for now. As long as they arent getting out to prey on kids again.

See my point? You act as if the only possible way to protect our kids from sex offenders is indefinite detention for a crime they haven't committed. Reforming sentencing procedures to allow for rehearings? Not an option. Life sentence without parole after the first offense? Stricter probation/house arrest. Couldn't possibly. No, only by subverting the rule of law can this menace be stopped. THINK OF THE CHILDREN! AND THE PUPPIES! SEX OFFENDERS HATE PUPPIES!

Ha! I did laugh at the "PUPPIES".
I have an insiders look at the prison system and IMO none of these jokers are rehabed. No way. They may go through life after prison sentence for a sex crime regretting it, but they still have the tendency and desire. I dont want that around anyones kid. No one knows when they will decide that they cant hold back their desire to sexually abuse a nine year old girl or boy. No one knows if the woman that turns him down for a relationship or just casual sex will turn him toward a child that cant refuse.

I do understand that this law could be abused and that there are certain values we hold here in the US that are being twisted, BUT I cant help how I feel about this particular subject...IMO its something we just cant allow in any form or size.

I'm with Jasvll on this one for the exact reasons he stated. I can't say it any better. Lv2H8U also makes some points I agree with. Some people need to go away and never see the light of day. If its strike 1 and your out, so be it.

...Good points everyone. As the late George Carlin put it regarding child molesters "Completely incurable, ya gotta lock em'up". Child molesters have severe psychological disorders in which they cannot stop or control their actions & impulses. It even stretches into churches. Priests take a vow not to get married and somewhere along the way their wires get crossed. I think the recent cover-up in the Vatican is disgusting. They should come out, repent & step down. Using God as a backdrop to cover up molestation is pure evil. The devil can get you anywhere. One thing is for certain- NOTHING is higher than the truth...

^^^george carlin was a comedian, not a psychologist. There are plenty of sex offenders of all varieties who do not reoffend.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

Chemical castration has been used before, IIRC. I believe there was success in terms of lowering the numbers of repeat offenses.

Oh, BTW I'm half Jewish, 100% if traced matrilineally, as this faith does.

I keep reoffending......I can't stop myself.

It might be true that most sex offenders do it again (I seriously have no clue because I haven't seen any statistics), but I tend to get a bit skeptical nowadays whenever they start making up new rules because of sex offenders, because they are such an easy target, most people aren't going to oppose it, and the government knows it.

(In many European countries, people are not that scared of the terrorist threat, and here they use the pedophile card instead when they want to implement new laws for mass surveillance, because it makes it easier to pass them.)

And when you can keep sex offenders in prison indefinitely, the inevitable next step is to also keep other people who might repeat their crime locked up, I mean you have to be consistent with those things, right?

I was abused when I was a child.

I know the moderators know about the situation if they can see "edit" I found the guy.

I did not once touch him ever, nor did I seek him out. But If I did I would have ******* killed that mother****er with my bare hands as he looked up at me as if afraid of the hell I'd send him to.

I see this law as it is written. If it goes beyond that we as americans can stop it or we are to pathetic to do anything, either way we are in the same position.

If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so. ~ Thomas Jefferson
