yeh. the media is making as much capital as possible out of the story but what is impressing me is the fact that for 17 days they were presumed dead. in the face of that and diminishing food, water and air they managed to organise a mini society and sustain themselves as a group.
they took food supplys that were meant to last days and stretched them into weeks.
when the probe came down they tied a note to it and they were discovered. still they spent 59 days down there.
in the dark, in 40 degrees heat, half a mile underneath a collapsed mine and hard rock.
all they cared about was if their collegues made it out alive.
one of them proposed to his gf and is gonna get married now.
another one became a dad while he was down there and they decided to call the baby hope.
usually when theres a story that stops the world for a moment its something bad. its nice to have a nice story in the news for once.
