Exclamation Should guns be banned?

Every year 3 times 9/11 dies as the result of murder by firearm in the united states.

http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cr...-with-firearms

Ok im a limey. (im not, im london irish), but lets not forget the boston tea party, socialism and all that other jazz.

the bottom line is this. countries in which guns are banned have a far lower murder rate than countries that allow guns.

in europe even the guys who break into ppls houses dont commonly carry guns. the reason. if you have a gun here you can get shot. police will come and take you out.

now ... yes . im not gonna lie. in the city ppl have guns occasionally. but they are not visable in the same way they are in america.

less ppl die. less ppl get shot and the bottom line is its crime on crime killings when it happens. usually.

its a straight question and im going to try and stay out of the verbiage this time. but please give reasons for your answers.

thank you.

I dislike this argument. Guns do not kill people, people kill people. I wanted to kill someone sure a gun would be somewhat of a convenience.. but it wouldnt be much harder with a knife, club, rock etc. But it would be harder to solve as many murders as we do in america without everyone using guns. And really there are so many guns in america that even if made illegal people would still have them, they'd still be easy to get... except none of them would be registered so it'd be much harder to catch the person.

Going with Xeb on this. To say guns are the main problem here is silly. There will always be murder. Always no way around it. I carry a gun and I have never murdered anybody. I know a lot of people that carry and dont murder Plain and simple. If you are a murderer you will kill nomatter what

No way in hell should guns be banned. Crime rates go up when citizens are disarmed. If I was going to choose a way to be murdered guns would be a far better choice then a pitchfork, hatchet, tea cup...

people with easy access to guns kill people. people without easy access to guns dont.

i respect you and i like the way you debate but unless you are suggesting americans are just evil, theres no explanation for the massive disparity for murder rates in gun legal countries vs non firearm nations.

what other factor would explain the obvious correlation?

People that dont think the easy access to guns in the U.S. directly contributes to or murder rate are completely delusional. I dont know how hard it is to get your hands on a gun in the U.K., but over here it is pretty damn easy. I grew up in the south and damn near everyone I knew had multiple guns sitting around there house in one way or another, be it in a gun case, closet, safe, etc. If someone felt the need to shoot someone, finding a gun to do it with would be the easiest part. The right to bear arms is outdated and causes a shit load of problems. It doesnt solve any. We arent in colonial days anymore, your not gonna have to fight off the redcoats or the indians.

americans are evil and that second part is not true. look at canada... guns are even more prevalent there than in america.. take away our murder rates with guns and compare that to other countries. its still way higher. in america we just have an affinity to murder, michael moore tried to examine this issue before. not sure why americans are that way.

He put it down to attacks from your own media driving community's apart, putting people at competition with each other creating divides based on Ethnic origin, Social status etc.

Tyler Durden says it all:

I think they should be banned definitely! Nobody other then the Police should be allowed to wear a gun.

Thats the thing wich I don't get?!

Why are there almost no killings in Canada but so many in the States? Is it because of the population? History? It's a mystery for me..

So if the government fails and turns on its people, the people should have no means to protect themselves giving an unbalance of power like we have here in the UK

I just wish the red necks out there with guns would take them and start an up rising hell give them more guns.
