Maybe it just depends on where in south korea you go. I was just checking out some pictures of seoul south korea.

Looks like a modern city to me, I even saw a mcdonalds. But meh I don't care to much about the food, or political climate in south korea. I'm interested in the women of south korea, i'd like to know what im working with

also itd be nice if it were safe and had a good lager.

Of course, same as in the US. Not every small redneck town is like New York

It's safer than the US: 2.2 vs 5.9 murders per 100,000. I'm not interested in alcohol, so I can't give you any advise on beer in Korea

Anyone been?
The OP asked has anyone been there, not for your political views, or other countries that would be better ect.

also OP, you asked if anyone been, if someone has and they did not like it dont get mad at them for posting it they are just telling their experience, just like in any country people are going to have good and bad experiences

I wasn't getting mad. I was just surprised at how negative and generalized his comments were.

Other than North Korea, South Korea is supposed to be one of the safest countries in the world.

But, you are right on the whole beer aspect. I have yet to find a good beer here. It's easy to find almost any beer from elsewhere though.
