Job Promotion?!

So yeah, I'm applying for another position @ my work tomorrow, basically a supervisor role in my department but am getting extremely nervous... and I haven't even submitted my resume/cover letter yet.

I know I shouldn't be this nervous considering a supervisor in the current position I'm applying for pulled aside a few weeks ago, asked me if I had previous experience training people at other jobs I've had, in which I replied yes, he then told me to keep my eyes open for Job postings in my department.

Surely enough 2 weeks later this position is advertised, but at the same time I've only been at this job for 6 months and have competition with people who are great workers and also have been working with the company longer than I.

I've accepted the fact that I may not get the job, and I really don't mind the job I do currently...but I definitely don't want to be doing it forever and it seems that promotions are fairly scarce in my company.

My attitude a week ago is that if a position opens up I should apply for it regardless to show that I'm not just someone who wants to come and do a 9-5 for a near minimum wage pay check, and actually want to advance through the company, but as the day gets closer I'm worried for some reason that I'll look stupid for applying.

:(

What are they going to do? Sue you? :P

Don't worry. If you don't do it you will regret it. If you do it at least you will have an answer.

Dude, make sure to apply. This is typical insecurity, I'll not lie I feel it strongly from time to time. Apply, keep your head held high and relax. If you cant summon your confidence on this matter fake it. Worst case scenario, you don't get it. It helps me to remove the importance of something, look I approach a girl in a bar worst case scenario is that she won't **** me. No biggie, if she ****s me sweet, if she doesn't it's okay , there's always another girl, another promotion, another job. When I relax and don't care about the promotion or the sex is when I get it the most.

Apply and remember you know how to do everything the job requires and more, it's time for the A game bring that shit on.

Just pimp of the wing, I still have to answer to the head pimps.

So yeah, wasn't sure I'd ever have to update this anytime soon...

So a month ago I found out another position in my department was opening up due to the person moving out of province. It's basically a job where you must oversee the quality for the entire department and report directly to senior management.

This is a position I was wanting to go for even before they had the Supervisor position open up a few months back and I was sad to hear that the position was being appointed to someone else in the company because they had a parent that was senior management (for the whole company, not department).

So I was kinda bummed out about not even getting a chance to apply for it for a while there...but then a week or so later I hear some rumblings about some inappropriate work behavior. Turns out there was a sexual harassment issue with the female that was training him for the position.

I came into work this past Monday and they called me into an office and asked if I would be willing to take on some extra responsibility, of course I agreed.

There was no Resume/Interview needed....they've already interviewed me for a similar position and thought I'd be a great fit.

My training started Yesterday.

Thanks for the great advice everyone. <3

I LOVE YOU GUYS. *cries uncontrollably*

Congrats man :thumb02:

I don't believe in fate, but sometimes things seem to be meant to be. :)

Also remember as soon as that guy lost his chance they didn't even ask for applicants.. They asked for you. :thumb02:

Good stuff man!

I didn't see this thread before but if I had I would have said you would be stupid not to try. I guess you can see why.

Good, man, glad you got that shit.

Always go for what you want, forget anything else, go for it and be confident, no other progressive way around it.
