Top 5 Must See Live Bands!

Because I'm seeing my number one on Sunday in London!

1) Bon Iver

Justin Veron's music hits me in a way other music just doesn't. His first album is so haunting, I can't even imagine what he was going through when he wrote it. The 2nd album keeps the same mournful tone but in a more upbeat way. It doesn't and shouldn't make sense until you listen to both albums, then it just works. The similarities and differences are infinite. I've yet to hear a single Bon Iver song I dislike, and I cannot wait to see them live. Only a few more days!

2) A Perfect Circle

Stealing the number 2 spot purely because I have seen Tool live, they've been among my favourite bands for a long, long time. I'd settle for a new album at this point though.

3) Tool

Saw them in Cardiff in ... 05 I think. It was spectacular. Nothing more to say.

4) Damien Rice

Been a big fan of his for a long time, I absolutely adore Folk music, and he's right at the top of that genre for me.

5) Deep Purple

I grew up with my Dad listening to Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and of course Deep Purple. So many nostalgia moments to loads of their songs, and I'd love to be able to say I saw Smoke on the Water and Hush played live before I die.

Your list?

1. Ill Nino
Saw them playing in a small venue and my face was being whipped by the lead singer's dreadlocks while I was going bats*** crazy... Awesome show!

2. Nephew
Danish alternative band that is just awesome, nobody in here will know them :P

3. Volbeat
Danish rock-a-billy heavy-band. Awesome music and one of the best damn live-bands I've ever had the pleasure of watching. 5 concerts so far

4. Killswitch Engage
Just an awesome experience, some damn insane vocals!

5. Red Hot Chilipeppers
Was very, very drunk when I saw them last weekend - and I was at their concert with 4 blokes I didn't know so I was basically on my own. But damnit what a show, they made up for their terrible concert at Roskilde Festival a last year (I think?)

So many concerts, but I decided to list these as they're the ones I remember best :P

Kry your # 2 and 3 are amazing!! I have APC and they are in my top bands live!!!

Budi your 3 and 4 are awesome as well!! I havnt seen Volbeat but I want to! Killswitch is amazing!! I saw them at OZZ Feast I believe.

My top 5

1: Black Label Society. I have yet to see Zack live and I miss him last week in New Orleans which blows!! I herd he put on a show!!

2: Stone Sour: I saw these guys at Family Values and blew my mind!!

3: The Deftones: Saw them at the same Family Values....The energy these guys put off can not be matched!!

4: Clutch: I have been a fan of Clutch for a long time and I always miss their shows!!

5: George Jones: If you are a country music fan this is a must! I saw the Possum about 3 years ago in Mobile Al and all I can say is old as hell but he can still sound like he did 20 years ago!!!

My all time favorite band is no longer together. And will never be together again. So I didn't put them on the list.

I've only been to a Metallica concert (I was born in Latvia, f*** me.), but damn what I would to do see them again. There was a period where their live performances sucked, but the last couple of tours are pretty damn awesome. (I've watched vids)

Music is my life, and it's what I do for a living, I'm very happy to see this thread around here.

I'll go two routes if you guys will humor me.

U2 - Their truly is more of an experience than it is a concert, the level they are on is well earned.

Avenged Sevenfold - It took me awhile to get into these guys to be honest, but it was a stellar live performance at Pointfest a couple years ago that did it.

Tool/A Perfect Circle - Gotta agree with KRY here... two amazing bands both fronted by one of the greatest frontmen of all time.

Dave Mathews Band - Pretty damn cool show, and incredibly different every time.

Pearl Jam - 15 years ago Pearl Jam was probably the best live band there ever was. There shows were out of this world and Eddie Vedder was insane!!! They've gotten older and slowed down a bit, but they are still a force!

Indie Scene - This is where I spend most of my time, if you guys don't know these band look them up... you might dig at least a couple.

Dredg - California based four peice with an incredibly unique sound and great stage show.

Calhoun - Texas based Country/Rock/Folk band... yes all of that! Great band, great guys.

The Urge - They had some mainstream success awhile back but being from Saint Louis, they will always be indie to me. I'm honestly not crazy about their music, but their show is amazing... since that's the main topic at hand.

Iscintilla - Industrial rock band from Chicago, very cool band.

Flickerstick - They are disbanded now, but I had to include them... they were without question the best live show I ever got to see... and I did it 22 times, in 9 different states.

How is Rush not on any list?? The members may be old but they're still touring and incredibly talented. Between Neil Peart (type Neil Peart yyz solo into youtube), the Michael Jordan of drumming, the incredible light show they put on, and the lengthy songs they play to ensure you get your moneys worth, Rush is definitely a top 5 must see live band!

Today's Tom Sawyer
Mean mean pride.
