I saw this, I don't think it'll go anywhere/do anything or be passed. Whenever there's something to exploit and make money off of, you know to expect to see shit like this.

So.. Anyone know a good VPN?

And Obama lied about vetoing that bill allowing the US to imprision it's citizens indefinitely for no reason without a trial.

I really want to rage quit america, it takes years to transition to a Canadian citizen.. Sigh* wish I had started that a few years ago.

I saw a commercial on this the other day. It looks like someone powerful is influencing this movement. The commercial was really well done (production wise) but it was completely ridiculous. It basically said that the internet and free downloads were why we have no jobs in the US and that all of all intellectual property was being stolen. It even went as far as to mention terrorism (although I don't remember in what context).

The public outcry over the Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect IP Act seems to have gotten so loud that even members of Congress can hear it. On Thursday we covered the news that Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) was expressing second thoughts about SOPA's DNS provisions. He said he changed his mind after he "heard from a number of Vermonters" on the issue.

On Friday, several Republicans started backpedaling as well.

SOPA sponsor Lamar Smith (R-TX) announced that he would be pulling the DNS-blocking provisions from his own bill. “After consultation with industry groups across the country, I feel we should remove Domain Name System blocking from the Stop Online Piracy Act so that the Committee can further examine the issues surrounding this provision," Smith said in a Friday statement.

Meanwhile, six GOP senators who served on the Senate Judiciary Committee (which unanimously approved the legislation last year) wrote a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid asking him to postpone a vote on PIPA to give them more time to study the legislation.

"We strongly believe that the theft of American intellectual property is a significant problem that must be addressed," they wrote. But since the Judiciary Committee last considered the legislation, "we have increasingly heard from a large number of constituents and other stakeholders with vocal concerns about possible unintended consequences of the proposed legislation, including breaches in cybersecurity, damaging the integrity of the Internet, costly and burdensome litigation, and dilution of First Amendment rights."

Sadly SOPA is in no way dead. It’s shelved, and will be back soon enough. And PIPA is as bad.

The Lobha argument makes zero sense.

First, not only because SOPA wants to get offline copyrighted material, but also wants to get offline "potentially" content that can contain the material who can violate the author's rights. It's like shooting to a person because they can be a potentially a thief.

Second, because they don't even know what is the copyright. The author's right is a privilege you can have to promote the creation, it's not at item. But that also don't give the right to the companies to abuse of they privileges meanwhile a normal person is blocked to claim its legitimate rights.

If Lobha defends the the copyright, how they can register a software at the international level? And why a file is restricted 70 years after the death of his author? (The person that should be benefit of it).
