But to expect OTHERS who also live here, to do the same thing for the same reason's you do, is ridiculous and narrow-minded.

I'm glad to know things are progressing/technology and people's mindsets are evolving to think beyond the borders of the country they just so happened to be born in. There are several other countries I'd much rather live in, than this one. That's not to say I that I think america has nothing going for it, that's not true. It's just I don't feel this country is any better than any other major country in all honesty.
What's keeping you here than? Let me guess, you don't have the money, skills, or resources to move to another country so you'll complain about the one that you live in? Shut your mouth and take your ass to Canada or mexico than.

Loving your country doesn't mean you love it's leaders. Our government is not doing very well but that doesn't affect my feelings for the place I live. And to the people that complain about it, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE and see how good you have it.

Hopefully your new country of origin attempts to invade the US so you can feel my .223

You can't leave can you? You're probably collecting welfare while complaining about healthcare.

I can't speak as an American as i'm Canadian, but if I was American I would still take my hat off and show some respect...but for past generations and leaders. Certainly not for any US President or leader in the last 30-40 years. Bill Clinton was pretty cool though.

Blind and pseudo patriotism is on the decline, and it's getting pretty obvious.

Well, I'm not american but I know what you mean. I dont get it either.

Here just recently some immigrants complained because our national anthem is too "racist" and it includes "nationalism". So it can be banned from our schools...

Shit like that and the recital of the "pledge of allegiance" is all horse-shit. I feel it's progress, anytime a country can move AWAY from complete blind patriotism and move toward evolving and people thinking for themselves, is a good thing IMO.
Just to be clear, a cultural melting pot means you're supposed to leave your bat-shit cultural craziness at the door when you come in.
You toe the line (read: "conform"), or you get out.

A cultural mosaic(which is what we "enjoy" in Canada) is what you're describing: you are welcomed into the country, and are free to express things like cultural idioscyncrasies and religion.

Either way, take your fukcin hat off when the anthem is played; it's the least you can bloody do.

Well lets relate it to mma consider the following. Ufc in brazil their are flags everywhere in the seats. You bad mouth a Brizillian fighter then the whole country is at your throat. Also in england make any difference who it is if he is from England the whole stadium is behind him. Won't find this as much in America. Often times there are flags from other countries and forgin fighters preferred over American ones and we even have fighters supporting other countries more than their own.

Now I am not saying that americans should blindly support every fighter from America (there are many that i dislike) but the point is patriotism seems to be alot less than other countries and is dieing in America.

Patriotism should be dying, to be honest.

It's the mindset that we're on one team and we are some united people that don't let other people from a separate section of rock join us/take pride with us, which is the same mindset cultures thousands of years ago had, and this process has lead to billions of people being murdered and their lives stripped from them for such silly ideas over these thousands of years.

Like your example of Brazil, they mindlessly vote for and irrationally support their own countries fighters, even if they are jerks, even if they say stupid stuff, even if they do this or that, they support them, simply because they come from the same section of rock. It's this mentality that makes people kill each other over rocks and dirt, where even if something is bad or crap about this rock and dirt, they blindly support it and ignore it for the sake of by a small chance they just so happened to have been born there.

The "one team" mentality should be going away, people should connect on a much higher level and be a lot more social with each other, that's the next step of social evolution in my opinion and it's showing through the likes of social media, connectivity around the world, etc, and the result is less patriotism and less respect for a piece of land they just so happened to have been born on.

I do not think that's WHY people are not supporting America, in fact I don't think that even crosses anyone's mind when they are not placing their hand over their heart for the anthem or whatever. I fully believe it is a direct result of this "one team" mindset, however, and I for one am glad it is starting to fade out.

edit - I fixed your video Mmawrestler,

I think M.C. pretty much summed it up, couldn't have said it any better. Those are the same reasons I'm not a patriot of my country. At the end of the day, these are only lines drawn on a map where we were born by accident.
