now the pills worked but i only got one left, i have tried going to sleep with out them but all i can do is get right to the point of falling asleep and i snap back awake.

tylonal pm and nyquil dont work

any people on here had probs with insomnia and if so how did you get passed it?

Hmmm insomina sucks man for real. Do you get any exercise at all? Reading always does it for me. What are you doing right before you try to sleep?

When i have something like that, i just make an effort and skip a night of sleep.
Then i go to bed at the regular time and sleep comes naturally.
But if you canīt sleep for 4 days, then that's really serious.
Have you tried some yoga and maybe a joint before going to bed?

unfortunately smoking a J is out of the question with my job :(

but yeah i can and ave just layed in bed for 12 plus hours trying to go to sleep and not be able too

as for exercise not much except what i do with the woman lol, but yeah with my job having me work 11:00 to 8:00 it is limiting my time to exercise which i really need to do more of.

its just weird it just came out of no where, usually i am the kind of person that can fall asleep when ever where ever i want.

If you don't live to far away from your job use a bicycle to commute.
That way you can make some exercise and relax at he same time (i find bike commuting very pleasant and relaxing).

There can be several different causes for insomnia, so it's important to find out what's the cause in your case. As you don't just have it for a couple of days (which wouldn't be that alarming), but suffering for several weeks, you should really try to find a physician who is a specialist for sleeping disorders. Don't just go for a new box of sleeping pills. Those are fine if it's just a short temporary circumstance, but in long term usage can be addictive and make your sleeping disorder even worse.

What you can try yourself is anything that would relax you, like having a hot bath before going to sleep, autosuggestion/relaxation exercises, listening to quiet music etc. In the two hours before going to sleep you should not: drink any alcohol, eat heavy, watch TV, surf the Internet or have any bright light exposure to your eyes. You can do sports in the afternoon/evening so your body gets tired, but also not in the two hours before going to sleep. So making the two hours before going to sleep really a time for coming down, physically and mentally.

If you wake up in the night and can't fall asleep again read a book if you have a troubled mind. If you have lots of thoughts, write them down with a pencil on paper (not on the computer) as notes, not to elaborated. So you sort of get rid of the thought and can think about them the next day at daytime.

If all that doesn't make your situation better in about a week, really go and look for a specialist. If it's a permanent problem it can become dangerous.

yeah one thing i do that is bad is watch tv episodes on the computer before i sleep, which is not the reason for the insomnia but it sure aint helping,

I plan on going to see a specialist if it continues but have to wait till febuary for that is when my insurance kicks in...that is if i can last that long.

im going to start exercising when i can for i know that will help me a bit

but yeah it sucks i can get to the exact point of where i would fall asleep and its like my mind gets scared and popps back awake

live to far for the bike riding but i thought of just going for a walk when i get out work see ow tat works

There is another thing (from personal experience) what you could do: learn a language. In particular with "Pimsleur" self learn audio courses I was almost always falling asleep before the end of a lesson when I listened to them in bed. Its system of repetition has something hypnotic which brings you in a trance like state and in addition, learning a new language uses a lot of capacity of your brain in that moment which will make it tired and may keep away any other thoughts that keep you from falling asleep. You could also go with "Teach yourself" which is much cheaper than Pimsleur, but has not as many hours of audio.

get black out drunk? ok thats my joke responce... tho for me its kinda true....

i get bouts of insomnia here and there.... where i just cant shut off my mind, or just as im about to fall asleep, its like my body jerks..... and then i think about that too much and get like a panic attack... ive had times where tylenol pm works, when they didnt, done the Ambein, done the muscle relaxants.... had em work wonders, had em not work and had them mess me up so bad (from normal dose) that i slept for 20 hours straight...

thats part of why i drink so much. i almost need to be drunk to sleep and sleep a full night.... i dont recommend it, but i know what your going thru and wish you the best of luck man.
