Looking for Kickboxing & MMA Sparring Partners in the NW Indiana Area
Hi, I stay in the Northwest Indiana area and train at the World Gym in Highland, Indiana because that is the only gym out in my area that will allow their members to spar and train in the martial arts openly. Also before he got his own gym down the street from them WEC Bantamweight Champion Miguel Torres trained out of there for 3 years. I'm not style or competition type discriminatory as long as the person wants to help me out improve my current fight skills and to help me accomplish my future goals I'll be more than happy to train and spar with them. If you can help me out or are looking for another human punching bag (I'm a striker with an extremely small amount of experience on groundwork and submissions. So someone with a good BJJ or Submission Wrestling background would beat me easily because of my lack of formal training in groundwork.)please contact me at ronin7411@yahoo.com to see if we can talk about training and sparring with each other. Also bring your friends and any other people you know that stay in the Northwest Indiana area that would like to fight in Kickboxing and MMA the more people I can spar and train with the better. Thanks to anyone that can help me out.

Umm if Torres has a school down the road... GO THERE!!!1 I mean come on.. if you have a chance to train with someone of that caliber and your asking for random people to train with you.. you can not be that serious about your training
I'm tight on money and I can't afford his monthly fees to stay at his gym if I did have the money to train with him I would but since I don't have $150 a month to train with Miguel I got to go with anybody that I can find that wants to train and fight with me. I provided a link to his school with their prices so that you can check it out but if he was more affordable I wouldn't even be posting this ad looking for training partners.

Wow I swear.. I must have the only instructor in the US who does not over charge.. we are under 100 a month.. with classes 5 nights a week plus a couple mornings for those of us who work nights. and my instructor is a signed Strikeforce fighter.
Think about it as this Don my membership with World Gym is only $25 a month Monday-Thursday the gym is open 24 hours, Friday they close at Midnight, then Saturday & Sunday 8am-7pm. The other gyms in my area don't allow sparring in them for insurance reasons & the only one that does have an area to practice the martial arts wants $60 a month just for the gym membership & then they charge an additional $120 a month to train in Shotokan Karate & this is the catch no one but the Shotokan class go use that sparring room & at $200 a month they can kick my a$$. I'm basically on a shoe string budget & have the desire & heart to be a fighter but lack the money to pursue it at the level I want to.

Oh I understand.. it sucks I been there.. if I did not stumble on the instructor I have now I was doing the same as you were prior to that. I just lucked out in hooking up with the school I did (check out the link in my sig) So I know what your going through... If you really are serious.. try talking to whoever actually runs the Torres school.. perhaps you can do some cleaning up or something in exchange for training or a reduction in costs. It does not hurt to ask.. if you are serious and can show them that they may be willing to help you out. Above all good luck and be careful. about getting random training partners off the net.. there are some whack jobs out there. Try talking to people in your gym see if any are interested in training with you.

What I would do is
1. see if miguel's gym has a punch card system. Our gym has one so fighters from other gyms can come and have new sparring partners to work with and get fresh ideas, etc. I think ours breaks down to $10-$15 per punch or a trial membership ust to get the basics in and then proceed with option 2.
2. See if there is anyone going to that gym that might want to get some extra work in. Them teaching you some basics can help them perfect their technique and you will come up fast because youwill have to if you want to stand a chance in sparring.
Our memberships are less than $100/mo and classes 6 days/wk with open gym times and very reputible instructors. I think one reason we are able to stay affordable is our instructors are unpaid. They do this totally for the love of it and of teaching it. They have all been together for a very long time and really make you feel welcome.
Don & Crusher, you won't believe me but I'll say this anyway I've tried everything you stated & this is the fucked up part about of all of this is every MMA gym I talked to wants 50% of the money I earn from my fights including from "smoker bouts". (Hopefully you guys know what I'm talking about because that is really big out here) I already talked to gyms about cleaning their faculties all they want is cash & I've meet people that had dual memberships at my gym & at a MMA gym all I do is see them about 3 times at the gym then I never see them again for like 2-3 months what I think is weird is I never see them again after I spar with them a few times. But going on their opinion about my fighting style is that I'm a good counter striker & I got good placement of my strikes but with a good team backing me with lots of partners I'll have a chance to make it into the cage. I'm just going to show you guys how bad I need sparring partners & you'll see that I'm not a style discriminating a$$hole that thinks just because I trained in the martial arts that I'm invincible. I'm willing to train with boxers, wrestlers, traditional martial artists, & another type of martial artists there are(hell I'll bang a Tai Chi stylist or somebody that does Ninjitsu if they want to train with me). I'll provide the links of my previous attempts for sparring partners & I think you'll have to agree with me that where I stay is filled with a bunch of people that talk about being fighters but when it comes to actually backing it up they can't or don't have the heart & dedication to do it. The only one that was willing to work with me is 2 hours away & 2 hours coming back from Indianapolis which is Top Gun MMA which if I wasn't in college I would of but since I'm in school along with I'm helping my mother out because she has an enlarged heart & water on the knee that makes her walk like she is the Hutchback of Notre Dame hinders me as well. I use to drive an hour to show up to this fight club in Chicago but everyone just stopped showing up after a while so after numerous failures with out of town teams I'm going to stick with my area.

I believe ya and feel for ya. It is hard a lot of schools are simply in it for the money. in fact my instructor has not even asked for a dime beyond the normal monthly fee. And he is not trying to rush any of us into fights.. he wants us to excel when we do actually compete.. we already have a few guys taking medals at BJJ tourneys. the school is just approaching its one year mark and we just moved to a new location.. AWESOME facilities. just keep plucking away and good luck. if you are ever going to be down the Nashville way let me know you can come train with us.
