People can say what they want to about the effectivness of TKD in mma, but it is always cool as hell to see a couple of high level practitioners of this art throw down.

Very solid TKD footwork there. Unfortunately quite a bit of it doesn't translate well for MMA. When I started training MMA after TKD I had to adopt a more Muay Thai style stance. Too many times in TKD switches your heels will come together which make you prime for a takedown if your opponent knows anything about TKD. Also, your lead leg is left out too far and sets you up for leg kicks or single legs.

That being said I still love switching it up with some TKD just to keep folks guessing. Some fast footwork does set up some deceptive kicks, superman punches, and gets you lined up nicely on angles similar to the way you see both Anderson and Machida get just off of center to counter-strike.

Great find and good contribution. +rep

you make a good point fieos, and that is why it is called mixed martial arts. pure tae kwon do stances will not match well in tae kwon do, just as a pure boxing stance doesnt translate all that well. elements of each art are taken into account, i personally prefer tae kwon do kicks over muay thai due to the high increase in speed, the lesser power is more than made up for in my opinion
