Wink Strikforce "evolution" / wec 45 : Fighter salaries

It's crazy how much some of the lower tear fighters get paid, even when they are in the bigger organizations.. Here is the link to the list of the fighter salaries from Strikeforce and WEC this past weekend.

I think it's ridiculous that the smaller athletes get paid MUCH less. I'm glad that the StrikeForce fighters are getting a decent amount, but it comes down to how much of a draw you are: eg, Cung Le got $150,000. Fair enough, but then you compare him with a more complete Mixed Martial Artist like Donald Cerrone who only got $24,000 ($12,000 win bonus) - not fair. Ah well, no use complaining about it, but it does mean that they can't train full-time because on a salary such as this (even though they fight several times per year) alone does not suffice.

Thanks to limba for this AWESOME sig

You have to remember that fighters have many sponsorship deals alongside with other payments that aren't publicized which make up a big portion of their salary. I agree that getting paid so low is unfair but at the same time you can't pay everyone 10/20k and pay the bigger fighters at the same time. Besides, if you put on a good performance your pay will undoubtedly shoot up.

frankly, im kinda tired of hearing this shit that fighters also get "sponsership money".. its never reported, and i'm damn sure a lot of fighters aren't making a lot of money off sponserships because who wants to pay an unknown guy a lot of money to wear their logo?

and as for "at the same time you can't pay everyone 10/20k.."
you cant afford to pay everybody to wear your product either.

and holy shiet.. i dont know if thats a type on that link or not.. but dice got paid $200.. WTF

At the end of the day these people are CHOOSING to fight. They don't have to step into the ring/cage if they don't want to. They're doing what they love to do - any money should just be a bonus for them!

And if you wanna talk unfair pay, for fighting Cyborg Strikeforce paid Gina $125,000, while Cyborg only got one fifth of that!

If you trip on my gravestone I'll be there to break your fall...
