suggestion for new rule
i think it would be good to make a rule that when you post a news article that you name the thread the same as the original headline of the article. that way you dont have the doublepost in mistake. say the original headline is " jonny vs bob at ufc 90 " and you post it under that. then 1 min later you get a " already posted ", you click it, and it is the same article but the threadstarter has changed the headline to " jonny is back !!!".
my point is that when you search threads it would be much easier to see if its alredy posted if the thread is named correctly

I agree. It would also be good if people could follow the rule T.B. said awhile ago about quoting the article and linking it. I know a lot of people do it that way but there are still a lot of people who either just provide the link or paste the article and don't quote it so you aren't sure where the article ends and their opinion begins.

Its all about the advertising.
I'd much rather read a thread called: "I will kick his gay ass!"
rather than, "Interview with Bobby Sue on June 20 on MMAnews.com."

Yeah I know. I was just messing with you guys. Anyways, I agree this would help out, Mods wouldn't have toclose topics as much. But it isn't THAT much of a problem from what I see

I get where you are coming from but what if the headline is really long? then we should shorten a little bit.

I agree I posted a news article a couple of days ago about Alves vs Sanchez turns out it was already posted by The Legend but the title was different.

Orr, you could make it really brief and to the point, thus easier to search and locate.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think it's very realistic. People are going to post things with different titles. Some times there are very key parts of a article that is going to actually draw attention to the thread even though the news site titled it as "Interview with (named fighter)".
All I can tell you is try do searches and don't get your feeling hurt if it's already been posted.
