Ive been a member of a few big forums, and a Mod of a couple. And apart from the smilies (i can live with them :P) one thing annoys me on here, the signatures, cant there be some kind of size limit....

I dont want to have to scroll half a page to get past someone's sig. I mean quite a few must have Photoshop which makes it damn easy to resize, hell even imiageshack lets you auto resize images.....

Im thinking maybe this can be in the rules...

maybe something like:

Max height: 16 Lines which is approximately 250 px
Max width: Around 600 px. Use common sense here: If the sig forces you to scroll horizontally on the forum, it is too long and will be removed by a mod.
Max size: 200 kb (in kilobytes)

But i associate people by their sigs as i rarely read the name of the poster, and im real bad with names. Im sure a lot of people know who has posted by the sig that follows.

I mean im not saying it SHOULD be a rule, just that a standard on sigs would be a good idea. With the forum growing more people are gonna join and a few take liberties with sigs.

Plus with people with slower net speeds loading a 5mb sig every page (yes i know its cached) is a pain in the ass, especially the moveing ones. I have 10meg so its not a biggy, but not everyone does.

As ive said ive been a member/mod of a few big forums (one with 200,000 members) and things like sig and avatar sizes are a good thing to introduce. I joined one forum and they had no limit and i never really visited, if i wanted crap like that i would watch it, not view a sig.

Don't like the idea, I hate when forums limit the avatar and sig size. Like TP said, just turn off sigs. Why can't you associate people by the avatar instead? I don't think it takes that much to scroll left and right.
