Rep system inbalance?
Just seems a little odd to me that theres members on here from 4 or 5 years ago, some mods even, with lower rep than some folk who have only been members a matter of months. Doesnt that seems a little dumb?
I know it doesnt really matter much, but it strikes me as a little odd is all. . .
I'm a li'l tipsy and i love you all. I'm disappointed theres no hug emoticon

i think it has something to do with people repping new members. I think when a new member comes some people will give rep them saying welcome. Also some of the older member have been around long enough to get some neg rep as well which can have an impact but that is just a guess on my part.

As AF said, some new members get hit hard with pos rep early on and it boosts them up.
Rep is a lot stronger now than it was back then, because we've recently (like 5 months ago or something) updated the rep system to add many more ranks.
As such, higher repped people are repping lower members and they are getting way more of a push into green than older members ever had.
Can't really control it.

Rep has accumulated over the years on this forum. When I joined it took me literally 6-months to a year to gain a full green bar. Very, very few people had big rep power. Most people repped for 10-50 points, 100 if you were lucky.
Now one rep from one person can gain you anywhere from 10,000 to 2/3Million.
It's not about how many times you are repped anymore, it's about who you are repped by,

But his dates are way off. He's such a silly sausage.

Lol okay, I might have been off by a year or so.
I thought it was sooner than that, though. Man, how time flies.

There is a huge debate in the mod section about it. Some are very anti hug and say an MMA forum should be all manly, wit beer, fire and thunder. Others are argueing your side with love and snuggles.
