hey guys today is my birthday and for my birthday I am going to the liquor store and I get to pick out a bottle of something not too overly priced.

I am a bourbon entusiest and drink it more than anything but I thought I would give scotch a shot since I have never really had a good one before.

So I am looking for a reasonably priced scotch that is pretty good for the money.

I have had johney walker black label before and thought it was a little on the harsh side so would like to try something new.

Any suggestions?

The glenlivet aged 12 years is a fantastic scotch. There are some better single malt scotches out there for close to the same price. I will list a few, but I'm not recommending them today because they are hit and miss and I do not want you to buy something for your birthday that you end up not liking.

What I'd recommend to try at some point: laphroaig 10 years, highland park 12 years and macallen 12 years. While I like highland park the best out of those three it is the most hit and miss scotch I've mentioned. I've never heard someone say "its okay" its either a fantastic scotch or its shit.

TL;DR I recommend the glenlivet 12 years

Laphroaig 10 years is fantastic, it's my weapon of choice when it comes to Whisky. Glenlivit is a great one too though mate.

If you're a Whiskey (Can't get the hang of saying Scotch) fan you will enjoy! If you fancy something different next time I strongly recommend the Laphroaig next time round.

yeah I was reading reviews and those were two I was going back and forth on. Just on other places that I asked (AZbillardsforum, Cigarpassforum) Glenlivit was the most recommended If I can find half sized bottles or something I may end up getting both.
