Personally, I'd choose the knife. Really, that fight would be a crappy experience, but the way I see it..
1. I MIGHT be able to eat one bat shot, maybe two if I get my arm in the way, or it hits my back or something. Plus, adrenaline would help to mask some of the pain.
2. You really only need to land once with a blade to do an awful lot of damage. Plus, you have the advantage of being able to grapple, which is what I do a lot. You just have to worry about getting inside, which albeit is scary enough.
Honestly, that'd be such a shitty and painful experience.. but I'd choose a blade personally. Besides, I'd rather die from blunt force rather than being stabbed.

Anyone who thinks your gonna block a bat and then keep going with a knife has never been hit with or hit somebody with a baseball bat. A bat puts people down and I would have zero concern about getting stabbed while trying to wind up again.

Never been hit with a bat. I'm just hoping the bat is wooden..
if the bat was metal I'd go with the bat all day. But... nah never been hit with a bat or stabbed.
It's just shitty regardless. I'd just want to either get knocked out with the bat.. or land a stab and follow up... I don't want to get stabbed man.

I don't think the type of bat matters to be honest. A metal bat probably provides you with slightly more force, but if you smash someone in the head/neck with a wooden bat they are going to sleep just as quick. There is little doubt the batguy will deal the first blow. The question is, will that initial blow be impactful enough to stop knifeguys foreward momentum, strike him to the ground and finish him off.
To the people picking bat, what's your strategy going in? Do you move around or do you stand still? What do you aim for? If you miss your first shot, how do you like your chances to be able to strike again?

The problem with the bat is that it is much slower, it is almost entirely useless at close range and you have to commit a lot more to swinging a bat. A bat swing leaves you much more vulnerable than a knife would.
At the beginning the bat has the edge, but the first swing is going to determine the fight. (Assuming both people know what they are doing). If you are going against someone skilled with a knife, you really only have 1 shot. If the first swing misses you are stabbed.

This is my way of thinking. The bat guy has one swing, maybe two if the knife guy messes up. But once the knife guy closes the distance, if he's still up and can fight, the bat lost and he's in for an extreme amount of pain.
If your the knife guy and you lose, odds are your going to sleep thus, you really don't experience TOOOO much.

What if the knife guy has multiple throwing knives.

I couldn't do shit with a throwing knife other than use it like a regular knife, but if the guy had multiple throwing knives and knew how to use them, he'd win against the bat guy 9 times out of 10 probably.
The one time he loses is the time he gets bum rushed and makes a mistake. Then it's all Bear Jew time.

That depends. If it's a rusty, unbalanced blade like this one, then I'd pick the bat.
If it was a badboy like this one however, machete for sure. It would be a big improvement on the butterfly knife. With this one you can slash and stab on the outside. The bat is ****ed.
