I just went to a few more sites to find out more about this incident.
The outcry isnt so much about the fact that these 6 kids are being charged. The outcry is because there is discrepancy between how the white kids who commited crimes before this particular incident were charged, and how these 6 black kids are charged.
Supposedly one of the black kids was beat up by a white guy on the friday before the 6on1 event. That guy was charged but Im not sure if he did any prison.
As well, those 3 kids who hung the nooses didnt get penalized...not adequately at least.
So now, people are saying: If you didnt do anything significant about those crimes commited by the whites, why are you doing something this drastic about crimes commited by blacks???
Which in my opinion is stupid. If I were to dumb it down, hundreds of thousands of people are basically saying to the legal system:
"You did nothing about the other crimes...Well, keep on 'doing nothing'!! Keep ignoring it!!"
Maybe they should be saying: You did nothing, now correct your wrong! EVERYBODY black or white should pay for their crimes. So if these 6 are going to prison for what they've done, the 3 who hung the nooses, the guy who broke the beer bottle on the black guys head, and all the others, should get their proper punishment as well.
just my opinion.

I'm not trying to argue with someone I don't know, but if ignorance is bliss your one happy camper.
I would hope that anyone who thought their rights were being infringed upon would speak up and not be silent. I've been following this story for about five months long before the national media attention, and one problem is that know one in the town would speak up neither white nor black. You'd constantly read comments from their citizens stating that's just the way it is here. Which is wrong.

Well a 1 on 1 fight over people talkin shit is one thing
a 6 on 1 blindside attack that leaves a kid unconscious is much more serious obviously
and the noose hanging thing is not even comparable in the least

Yeah, I dont disagree.
Like I said, each should get punished accordingly. Not the same punishment, but a punishment that suits the crime.

Quit saying it was 1 on 1. It was a group of white kids jumped beat a black kid with beer bottles, that was invited to the party, but only one person was charged.

It isn't hard to prove attempted murder when a group of people are kicking an unconcious person in the back of the head.

Perhaps, but the law doesn't work like that. It doesn't work by saying Person A got off for something, so Person B should get off. Besides, are you actually comparing drunk people throwing beer bottles at trespassers to 6 people beating a person unconsious and then continuing their assault?

That's not what I'm saying, but drunk or not, invite someone to a party then assault them you should get more than a slap on the wrist. One person was charged because people refused to come forward and talk. Just because beer bottles were used doesn't mean that everyone involved was inebriated. I just think everything needs to be brought to the forefront to eliminate things like this in the future.

I didnt read that, or I dont know the details about that.
Do you have a source? Im trying to figure this thing out. Im finding a lot of biased articles.
From what I read, not my opinion so dont jump to conclusions, from what I read, there was a fight between some white and black guys but it was NOT several white guys jumping on one black guy. Do you know where you read that? Id be interested. CNN's reports on their website are far past the details so I dont know where to find info. thanks.
