Couple Flees Burning Trailer With Their Pets, Forget Their Son
Quote:
BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. -- Two mobile homes were badly damaged by fire in Center Township, Beaver County, and a couple who lived in one of the trailers is facing charges Tuesday -- even though they are also victims of the fire.
Crystal Adams, 31, and James Chandler, 33, are accused of reckless endangerment, because police say the two grabbed their pet dogs and fled the fire at Center Manor Court but left Chandler's young son behind on Friday night.
The 4-year-old boy was treated for smoke inhalation after a firefighter ran inside and pulled him out, township Fire Chief Bill Brucker said.
Police said the firefighters learned that the boy was still inside the burning mobile home about 20 minutes after Chandler and Adams had already gotten out, when the two allegedly told firefighters that they had forgotten the child.
"They were asked numerous times by law enforcement -- I overheard at least once or twice -- 'Is there anyone else in these trailers?' Brucker told WTAE Channel 4's Sheldon Ingram.
The boy was conscious when a firefighter found him in a bedroom, Brucker said.
"You tuck your kid in bed, you should remember that he's still in there," Brucker said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Talk about ****ed up... something sounds fishy to me. What kind of bonehead parents forget their son in a fire? I hope that kid gets new parents.

now, i'm way overgeneralizing here, but isn't it ironic, that people who live in a trailer forgot their kid in a fire, but remembered their ******* ferrit or whatever?
perhaps, education is the key to being a functional human being???

Yea, me thinks they were hoping the kid would "accidentally" die in there and they could almost get away with it. Being a parent sucks sometimes, but I would never wanna lose my child. A lot of people wouldn't care though, as long as they don't have to be a parent anymore.

Wow, shows how stupid some people can be.
LUV and PT bring up a good theory, put it can also be that they are just stupid/they panicked and just forget the kid.
Regardless, it's good to see that they are getting charged.

I got one kid and there are many days where I wish I never would have had kids and I was single again. But at the same time I couldn't imagine life without my little boy. Unfortunately, parents killing their kids to escape parenting is not all that uncommon. Ohio is kinda bad about that actually. One chic from Dayton stuck her kid in the microwave...

odd, i thought you folks in Bible-rich Middle America were morally our betters here on the coasts? odd, don't you have the highest rate of meth addiction, and loonies who live in shacks in the middle of nowhere?
Anyway, kids are cool. if you don't like kids, or dogs, i don't have much in common with you!
cats too--if it's a cool cat...

Seriously man, some people are way too stupid.
They go and **** eachother blindly without any concern, then when they end up having a kid they lose their minds.
Why did you get knocked up in the first place? Or better yet have you ever heard of adoption?
We seriously need to do screenings before people can have kids.

I can understand the heat of the moment, and leaving without the kid for 10-15 seconds. But 20 MINUTES?!?! That is a bit off...
