Hunter S. Thompson
so, who loves him, who's read him, who wishes they could get away with what he did?
sorry, tonight is a "everyone else is doing something else" night, so i got a case of yuengling, 1/8 of bud, and fear and loathing in las vegas!
just wanted to know if anyone else has read his work... i, ****ing love his stuff. very prolific when it comes to how politics really is!
thought i'd start a conversation about him; see what happens

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas is a great movie, I will have to go rent the book from my local library if you recommend it.

I just watched "Where The Buffallo Roam", IMO not as good as Fear and Loathing but it was very funny, Bill Murrey was great as Hunter Thompson.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's one of those movies where the more times you watch it the better it gets, you start to notice things you didn't before.
I'm not a huge reader but I think I could definetly get into reading books written by this guy.
What books would you recomend and is thier a bookthat is a collaberation of all of his articles?

WTBR is only not as good as FALILV because Depp was spectacular! also, it was just a better movie.
as for books, well, get "The Great shark Hunt", and "Kindgom of Fear". i have to tell you though, incase you don't know. none of it is fiction. he only wrote 2 fiction books, and even Las Vegas was only written as fiction, it was an account of what really happened.
he was a journalist, so all of his books are letters, columns, etc...
so, if you're expeting ficion, you won't get it. But, his writing is so good, and the shit he gets into is so crazy, it reads just like fiction!!!

No not at all, I actually can't read fiction. I read newspapers and Magazines primarily, So this guy's right up my alley. The fact that it's real, is what makes it so great. He was totally off the wall, but at the same time he is brilliant. I also love the whole idea of Gonzo journalism. Are there any other Gonzo journalists?
Which movie are they doing?
