Islamic Extremism
 

Reposting this from my response in the "political thread", I think it's important enough to start a new thread. If anyone has any questions please feel free to PM me or respond here, This post doesnt make too clear my political views, so give me a chance to explain myself if need be. I can go into much more detail about the movie if anyone wants me to.

Everyone that reads this needs to see the documentary "Obsession: What the War on Terror is Really About" It will completely change your view on Islamic Extremism. Im a Political Science major and this was one of the best films I have ever seen in regards to the currently escalating situation in the Middle East. This film is not what the name implies, it is about how history is repeating itself. It makes some mind-blowing connections between the current Islamic extremism taking place and Nazi Germany. The connections are so blaringly obvious that history is doomed to repeat itself. Please see this documentary. It is a situation that effects everyone who lives in the western hemisphere.

I'm not buying or watching the film so how about telling us a little more detail about what you are talking about? If you are saying that Islamic fanaticism and terrorism is an illusion set up by the federal government to manipulate the public don;t bother with your explanation, I would reject it out of hand, would give absolutely no weight to it and I would not consider it an argument worthy of having a serious discussion over.

just like all religion, there are fanatic sects within islam... hell, if anything they have a right to hate us... after all, didn't christianity try to wipe them off the map for a few hundred years???

The current islamic extremism teachings are for the erradication of ALL people who are not part of the Islamic faith. Starting with Jews and Christians, they are teaching these beliefs as early as age 3 and reinforcing it throughout their kids lives. This practice is exactly as Nazi Germany did with their "hitler youth". If the situation in the middle east isnt dealt with soon, history is doomed to repeat itself.

Also the crusades you are referring to were to reclaim the "holy land" for christianity. Not the eradication of the islamic faith

and isn't the mission of christians to open the eyes of all those who haven't yet accepted jesus as their personal savior?

look, the point is, what is being "taught" to little kids, isn't true islam... its tainted by hate. of course, that is why religion is horrible, its so easily corrupted by the powerful and insane to manipulate the already pacified and dangeriously trusting faithful... but hey...

This is exactly my point, this is why the situation in the middle east MUST be taken extremely serious

the problem is not in the people, its in religion. look, you'll never get rid of "evil" or insanity in humanity... but if you remove the one venue which plays specifically to human fears and terrors... you'll be that much closer to being able to control those situations that could get out of hand. how exactley do you fight a concept? these people are teaching something, which they truly believe. true, its a tainted version, but the point is, they live their life fully believing in what they are taught... how do you fight an ideal? you can't. but, if you don't have religion shaping people's lives, fears, and beliefs, it wouldn't be as easy to get people to do things in the name of something else.

last time i checked, palientologists arent' getting people to kill each other to collect dino DNA...
