i cant believe that theory that god was always there, i simply cant grasp it.. there had to be something that started everything, and ive read the bible and watch all types of shows that shows the science of the bible and all those bible stories are simply events of nature that they couldnt explain back than so they thought it was an act of god. Priests and Nuns i dont undetrstand how they can spned there whole life bowing down to something that might not exist, and if god is as great as they claim i doubt he would want anyone wasting his gift of life by giving it all back to god.. i just dont understand how sum 1 can be a preist, im sorry call me ignorant i just dont get it

Here's another thing I've always wondered....If there is life on other planets, in other parts of the universe in other galaxies and solar systems, do they have to be just like us? I mean, I've never heard anyone else make this arguement before, that if there is life on another planet, why does everyone assume that they need H2O and Oxygen and ambient temperatures to live? This never made sense to me...it's like the scientists who go out looking for life, are ALWAYS searching for a planet with water and an atmosphere......but isn't it possible that life can exist without those 2 things? I mean, just because the critters on this planet need those things to live doesn't mean a whole nother species in another galaxy can't live off of some crazy unknown chemical. Scientists are kind of wierd about this, because they are trying to disprove the existance of God by looking for life, but if God doesn't exist, then why would the life look and act anything like we do? For all we know, there is life out there, but we can't see it because of their solar systems' sun doesn't produce the same kind of light as our sun, and our eyes can't see their colors because the sun is what makes colors. If it is a different sun, isn't it possible that their are new colors somewhere in space that we just can't see.....think about that....try to think of a new color...HHAHAH...it makes your brain hurt. But yeah there are certain living creature on earth that can survive temperatures of less than 100 degrees below zero, and complete darkness, with no nutrients..I can't remember what they are called but they have the word "bear" in their name. Some kind of tiny little parasite or bug or something. So all I'm saying is if critters on Earth can survive without "essential" things, then who's to say life can't exist elsewhere, where the species consumes fire as a way of staying alive and drinks mercury and breathes in carbon monoxide, and is some crazy ass color that would make you faint if you saw it.

What about extra terrestials visiting us? Any of you guys buy into that? I for one have always thought that if things really do visit us and stuff, then they are us from the future, coming back for some reason. Maybe to change history, maybe for vacation, maybe for research... I mean, what are the chances, if there is life somewhere else in the universe, what are the chances that they look ANYTHING like humans? Every alien you hear about has characteristics of humans...but if they really were aliens, then the chances of them looking like us are so slim it's not even remotely feezable.

life developed how it did on earth because of earth's unique conditions while the planet itself was developing. other plantes will invariably have devolped differently, so then life would/has developed in other ways there.

I understand you can't grasp it....just like you can't grasp the concept of a brand new never before seen color. We only use like 5% of our brains so that is the reason we can't grasp the concept of no time and new colors.

But the parts in bold I totally agree with man that is basically the sole reason I can't believe the Bible. If there really is a God, then what is the point of creating life just to worship him forever. I doesn't make sense. It's just like if God loves us so much, then why would he send people to eternity in hell for not worshipping him or something? That's like me having a dog for 10 years, my favorite pet, my best friend, a dog that I truly love and care for, but when he shits on the floor I cut his throat out and skin him and throw him in a tub of salt and lemon juice and rubbing alcohol, then I dump hydrocloric acid all over him. It doesn't make sense at all.

Even I can argue the 7 days thing....it doesn't mean what it literally says...and besides that, in the same book as the 7 days thing is said, it also says something like a day in our time is equivalent to like 2,000 years in Gods time or something. Don't quote me on that but it's something along those lines.

so, in other words... the bible isn't truth, but suggested myth? that's the point. it was obviously--and anyone who uses their head can tell you this--simply a way for people to explain what they didn't undertand!

i mean, did "god" send his sone to die for people, then ressurect him and have him dissapear afterward? there's zero continuity and intellegence in religious ideas! it's all ignorant faith!

Yeah but what if it is real. Then all the nonbelievers will be very sorry when they die. We have nothing to gain by not believing but everything to lose. And I never said I believe the 7 days thing. I just believe theres a God who created everything and if scientists say the bang theory is correct so be it that doesnt mean theres no God.

i refuse to believe my life on "what if's" i'm not going to live my life according to something that "could" be true, that i'm very well capable of using reason to figure out that it isn't true. look, the fact is, that through studying religion, i've learned the origins of religion and by reading sociology, i know why and how religion came to be. its not that hard to figure out. it is all myth, designed to answer what couldn't be answered, and then transformed into a tool to control the faithful who believed it.

should i arrest everyone who owns a gun because they could be insane and maybe kill someon?

slippery slope, yes, but the point is, i don't live my life by choosing the lesser of two evils, just in hopes that when i die, i'll have my ass covered.

people want life to mean more than it does, but it doesn't. life is brutish, barbaric and fleeting. it's special and unique because of this, not in spite of it.
