Just finished off the 8th book in the Wheel of Time series, The Path of Daggers. Good book and a great series- though very long books and sometimes there are so many different plots going on that it gets hard to remember them all with all the different characters. One complaint I have about the series is that sometimes so much is going on that at times even main characters and their involvement isn't even brought up for an entire book. It happened earlier in the series to a main character and again in this one to a different one after the character was left in a cliff-hanger ending in book 7 and then zero progress on his storyline for the entire book 8. Me no likey that.

I was going to plow through all 11 WoT books in a row but I decided to take a short break and am getting my Star Wars nerd-on by reading one those books. This is the last in a new trilogy called Coruscant Nights and this one is Patterns of the Force. Even as big SW fan I freely admit that many of the SW books aren't well written and sometimes outright suck- but I'll still read them all anyway. The series started out really well in the first book but the second absolutely blew so I'm hoping it wraps up better than the second book.

I got burned a few times this way and I'm scared to open another one, sad but true. My SW nerd function is near-perpetually engaged, however.

finished that 13 Bullets book and moving on the the sequel, 99 Coffins. They're almost definitely gonna make a movie out of these. And they'll be awesome.

Yeah I read all the first Star Wars books like the Thrawn trilogy and Truce at Bakura when they came out. The first few were good, but they got really lame later. Hell, Lucas should have used some of them for the Movies he made instead of that crap he sold us

Bump time

Alright I've read 3 books since last posting in here. I took the break from the WoT series to read a Star Wars book- Patterns of the Force and yes it wasn't great. I just very much lower my expectations when reading SW books so I'm not too disappointed when they aren't great. This was an end of a trilogy and basically not much changed with the core characters and the highlight was at the end of the book when Darth Vader went on a Force augmented acid trip after ingesting this plant. Pretty f-ing comical stuff.

Back to the WoT series and read Winter's Heart the 9th book in series. Again there are so many characters and various plotlines that I think Jordan almost got confused when writing this as some characters and plotlines disappear for a book at a time or get scant mention so when they reappear you almost have to go back to remember what was going with them in the first place. The major character he failed to mention for an entire book after the cliffhanger ending finally made a huge return but then another major character's situation was left untouched after a brief mention at the start of the book. Still a great series though you have to have a lot of patience with trying to remember plotlines, situations and characters because there are so many and sometimes get little mention with long gaps between those times.

Another break from WoT and I just finished The Last Great Fight- which is a great book about the Mike Tyson- Buster Douglas fight. It goes in the history of both men prior to the fight, the fight itself and what happened to them both afterwards. I used to be a fan of boxing back in the day and I remember being a huge fan of Tyson and how shocking this upset was at the time. Really excellent insight into both men and their character make-up and it's really amazing stuff to see what happened to both of their lives and the paths they took after this fight. If you're a fan of boxing or even not this is a really great book and two 2 distinctively fighters and men.

Now I'm back to the 10th book of WoT.

It is based off the story of Noah's Ark, it's very dreary.

I started The Prestige, and it's quite different from the movie. I'll give a final review when I'm done, but it's pretty good so far.

I am currently reading Brad Thor - The Last Patriot.

I also read John Grisham, Dean Koontz (The Odd Thomas series is great), Vince Flynn (Probably my fav political/gov't/espionage/action series), Patricia Cornwell, etc.

I can read a 500pg novel in like 9 hours, so reading is a very expensive hobby for me. I will buy 8-10 books every 2 weeks. I speed-read, but with the ability to retain the plot.

I love reading. It keeps your vocabulary sharp, and can help you function/think better if you read soon after waking up. It gets your brain a movin'.
