I dunno if I agree but my ex-wife cried in that crappy Stallone movie Cliffhanger when they shot Grampa Walton lol what ever that guys name is...I mean she cried in a theater. Never let her live it down either. Might be why I am divorced who knows.
Battlefield Earth made me cry as well, but i think that was more because it sucked and they ****** up my favorite book of all time.
I dont guess I can add anything useful for real. Sorry.
edit: I thought of one. WHere the Red Fern Grows. I cried I admit it and probably would today if I watched it. And We were Soldiers Once(And Young) was pretty sad as well

Runaway Train and Watership Down. Two very different movies, both very sad, but kinda uplifting and inspirational too.
For series episodes, the episode of Party of Five where they individually meet the guy who killed their parents in the car crash. Good fkin episode.

Of Mice and Men is way sad... that book made me cry at the end  The movie was pretty good too
