Perceptions of your region/city; how accurate are they?
I live in upstate NY. Recently when I was paying a bill over the phone, the person expressed surprise that I didn't speak like True Life: I'm From Staten Island. (I'm from Michigan so that wouldn't be happening anyway, but they didn't know that).
Do you feel there is any accuracy with regard to how the person on the street might perceive where you live or where you're from?
Except for Texas. Everybody knows people in Texas ride horses everywhere and rope cattle and cook stuff over a campfire. All the time. And they wear cowboy boots and spurs everywhere.

not to mention in texas you get a free gun with every purchase of booze... its a state law...
One thing i hate about people in my area is how they FAKE a Boston accent to make them feel like they are from Boston. I have a friend that went to college in Providence RI, and he would fake it all the time down there and now its like second nature to him... it pisses me off BAD

Well, I'm not gay, so most people would assume I do not come from California, even though I do.
Other than that, nothing really stands out. I wear sunglasses a lot, so.. no, that really doesn't mean anything.

Don't have time to post here right now since I have to feed by sled pulling dogs so I can make it across the tundra to school. Todays classes are Hockey 303, Advanced Ice Fishing, Igloo Architecture and How to Make Dinner out of 10 Pounds of Snow.

Oh hell yeah!! I KNEW it!!
When I have met people and say I am from Kentucky they have looked at my feet to see if I am wearing shoes...I wear them...most of the time anyhow.
And yes we do all live in the woods and drink moonshine with breakfast after squirrel hunting...

Its cold here and its never hotter than -30 Celsius.
Igloos are the norm here. We hold the knowledge on how to run DSL inside of an igloo so its not all bad.

Well I think people perceive San Diego as this beautiful city on the beach with lots of palm trees and surfer dudes and what not, which is true for parts of it, but the amount of mexicans, dry heat, and scumbags is probably not as known about. SD is such a big ass city so it's hard to have perceptions about it, really.
