I like Obama but this was an award given purely because he is not Bush and given on potential without merit gained so far. I can't agree with it and it only places more pressure on him.

Then again the Nobel Peace Prize is often awarded with different motives behind them.

When I first heard about it, I was a bit shocked that the Nobel Committee had allowed themselves to get charmed by a pop idol. The only thing he's done yet as far as I'm aware was closing the Gitmo concentration camp and in general being more diplomatic than his predecessor, not that hard really, considering that Bush was a bloodthirsty warmonger. But as Walker mentioned, the motive might be to put pressure on him to get something done.

Yeah, no idea why he won it. I mean, I like the guy and all but he's done jack all at the moment.

More to the point, why is there even a "Peace Prize"? "Peace" isn't exactly a field in which you can achieve excellence in.

I dont get it at all,surely there's someone a lot more deserving but i off the top of my head i cant think of anyone.

Its just politics as usual. Hes actually done very little to be deservent of that prestigious award. I like Obama but him receiving that reward, to me seems to take the validity of it away.
