Rolex-- should I, or shouldn't I???
Alright guys, at 40 years old I'm older than most of you, much less mature, but older. I'll work 7 more years before I retire but I'm pretty well set with my finances-- rich no, comfortable yes.
I have $5k to $7k that I was not really counting on, I'm thinking of buying a Rolex.
I've thought of a few other ideas but I keep coming back to the Rolex. Practical? hell no. But at this point should I care about practical? I have all the other toys I want but that much money for a freaking watch is crazy!
Help me out here.

There are better watches than a Rolex out there. Do some research and then go from there.
You don't want to be spending that sort of money on something that you won't like/isn't as good as you think.

When I,at 35 years old, spent 3 grand on an Omega watch friends told me I was crazy, wasting money etc etc,yet everyday I still look at it and think"Damn!Thats a cool watch!" lol Come on,James Bond wears one.
You earnt the money, you want the watch so why not? I will agree though that there are far better watches for far less money than Rolex.Tag Huer,Omega,Breitling and Raymond Weil are all worth a look.

Personally if i had a spare 5k-7k i would go traveling again, if you havent done much i recommend it - go swimming with sharks, visit tropical islands, remote countries etc

So to be the hater hear but 5 freaking grand for a watch? Maybe Im cheap as shit but honestly I remember seeing a watch I really liked that was $380 and I just could not bring myself to spend that much cash on a watch. Its not like I couldn't afford it but why spend a pile of money on something you can buy at Wal Mart for $50.

I thought that smick watches are usually given as gifts or won on game shows. To go out and buy one that expensive seems a little to me but hey whatever floats your boat.

I agree with this ^^ You are just paying for the name with a Rolex. They are great watches of course, but there are others that are better. Do some research unless you just have your mind set on a Rolex. Myself, I couldn't bring myself to pay that much for a watch, then I would always be worried about it getting stolen or someething
