Every year there is a big tournament in Erie PA (about 50 minutes from my house). My daughter and I both competed in it last year. It was a lot of fun and I'm sure she'd like to do it again.

In the interim we have changed gyms, going from practicing TKD to karate. It is sport karate, gay I know but she loves it, and it helps me not suck in the standup portion of my MMA and kickboxing classes.

I am fairly sure that my former teacher and fellow students will be there, all of whom I get along fine with. I didn't leave the gym for personal reasons, more like financial and scheduling, and I have told my former teacher's GF that.

Any ideas on how to handle this awkward situation would be appreciated.

March in there and show them who is boss by kicking the crap out of every last one of them. Then beat up your old teacher for fun.

Actually just go talk to them if the opportunity arises. What's the worst that can happen? They are just people. I doubt they would hold leaving against you.

I'd love to beat up the teacher's kid TBH. He has raw talent and isn't a bad kid but gets high on himself sparring and has no control, and should have, after doing it for 14 years.

But there's that whole not being a dude thing. It'd have to be a brawl in the parking lot.
