A mother-of-five died saving her bullied son from a house blaze started by a firework hurled through the front door on Bonfire Night, it has been revealed.
Mary Fox, 59, was seen pushing her 17-year-old son Raum out of the top floor window of their home minutes after the explosive was pushed through her letterbox.
Neighbours say the firework was dropped into the hallway by one of a group of bullies who regularly picked on her son because he has learning difficulties.
The firework set the front door alight and then ripped through the house in Bodmin, Cornwall, trapping Mary and Raum inside.

A passer-by dialled 999 but neighbours then watched as Mary, who also has four daughters, saved her son's life by shoving him to safety from his bedroom window.
He fell one storey and survived but Mary was trapped and, by the time firefighters arrived, the house was gutted.
She was later found dead.
Police say they are investigating the blaze and fire chiefs have confirmed they are looking at fireworks as a possible cause of the blaze.
Neighbour Doreen Rowe, 59, branded Mary a 'hero' for saving her son's life.
She said: 'Mary was a dear old soul and a hero. Her son survived because she pushed him out of the window but she got trapped by the fire.
'With it being bonfire night there was loads of kids on the street last night armed with fireworks. Police have told us one of them has put one through Mary's letterbox.
'She was not the only one targeted because my next door neighbour had one thrown at her house too.
'Fireworks should be completely banned from the public because they are extremely dangerous.
'My husband saw a whole gang of youngsters carrying fireworks not long before it happened.
'I'm devastated about what has happened. Mary was such a lovely lady. I used to be able to hear her singing from my garden sometimes - she had a beautiful voice.'

Friend and care worker Kerry Ollerenshaw revealed that Raum was targeted by youths because he had learning difficulties.
Kerry, 36, said: 'Her son had learning difficulties and the kids on this estate can be very harsh.
'They hang around in groups, harassing and intimidating. Raum was a victim of that. I can't believe someone would be callous enough to put a firework through a letterbox.
'People have been setting off fireworks near their home for days. There has been a gang letting off all sorts of bangers and rockets.
'You could just sense something was going to happen.'
Steve Halstead, group manager of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service , said an investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing.
He said: 'There are several avenues of investigation into the cause of the fire. Obviously with it being November 5, the possibility that fireworks were involved is something we are looking at.
'We are carrying out tests for all kinds of accelerant which is normal procedure. Fire crews arrived at the scene to find a severe fire. There were flames already visible from the windows.
'We were made aware there was a person inside and crews made their way to the first floor of the house despite severe fire and heat.
'Unfortunately the fire was fully developed and they found the casualty was already deceased.'
A spokesman for Cornwall Fire Brigade said they were called to the house at 7.15pm on Thursday after a 999 call to say the front door was on fire.
He said: 'Fire control received a call to the property. This was from a passer-by who stated the door was on fire at the front of the property.
'Two crews were initially dispatched, the first appliance arriving on scene within six minutes and the second on scene within ten minutes, a further appliance was requested and attended.
'A total of 30 firefighters attended the incident. On arrival, crews were informed that a person was still in the building.
'They were faced with a fully developed fire which had engulfed a three-storey building and was spreading to adjacent properties.
'Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two jets to tackle the fire and search the building for the missing person, conditions in the building were extremely hazardous for firefighters.
'Whilst tackling the fire and searching the building, the crews found a 59-year-old female who was confirmed deceased at the scene.
'A specialist fire investigation team and police are at the scene and are working in conjunction with Devon and Cornwall Police.'

Bullied: Fiona Pilkington killed herself and her disabled daughter Francecca, 18, after a decade of abuse from street thugs
He added two firefighters were treated at scene for the effects of heat exhaustion as a result of searching for Mary.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall police said they were keeping an 'open mind' into the cause of the fire but 'nothing had been ruled out'.
He said: 'It will be a painstaking and lengthy investigation to establish what happened.
'But we are taking into account it was Bonfire Night and the time of year could be significant.'
Raum was treated for minor injuries at Bodmin hospital but released this morning and is being cared for by family.
The death comes after Fiona Pilkington killed herself and her disabled daughter Francecca, 18, in October 2007 by setting fire to her car with them both inside.
They had suffered nearly a decade of abuse from bullies during which time police had ignored 33 calls for help, dismissing the family as 'over-reacting'.
An inquest jury blamed the police and Hinckley and Bosworth council for failing to tackle the street thugs who had relentlessly abused the family.
Because this took place in England the feral's who did this will hardly get a sentance.
Someone in the contents said kids should do national service. I sort of agree. (I spent some time in kiddies military (core) it was good)

Kids are cruel man, when I was in high school there was a kid like 5 years younger who had a learning disability and if that wasn't bad enough his brother who also had a learning disability spilt a pot of boiling oil on his head leaving him with a disfigured face, then on top of this his father had been reccently killed in a car accident when a gust of wind forced a semi into oncoming traffic. There was a group of kids in my class one day at recess actually using all of this to harass him and explain to him how god hated him, it was on of the most revolting things I've ever seen. One of the kids was a golden gloves champion boxer but I didn't even give a shit I punched him right in the face just for being such a disgusting human being.
I'm not sure why kids are jerks. I think schools are a bit like lord of the flies, in ye old days you wouldn't get so many kids together with out an adult around. Of course in England the prob is confounded by the fact adults are scared to deal with kids least they get put in prison.

I don't care what anyone says some kids need a good belting once and awhile, kids have no conscience fear no consequences the modern world is in general raising a generation of sociopaths.
Who picks on a retard? I'm not innocent I've picked on guys before but not a handicapped or retarded guy. I remember I was in 6th grade and this guy told a girl who was a friend of mine he was going to rape her. I went to beat his ass and found like 8 guys were in the process of beating his ass already. Where I grew up we kind of self enforced decent behavior.

Kids will be kids and always do stupid things. I wouldn't be so hasty in condemning them. Hopefully they can learn to be more responsible citizens and redeem themselves by having positive impact on society.
Do we really want "Eye for an Eye" kind of justice?

I k now I'm a liberal Jew douchebag, but yes I want "Eye for an eye" justice. You'll never be able to make these assholes feel the pain they put someone through. I wouldn't necessarily say kill their mothers because the mother didn't do anything wrong ...I just don't know, these kids need to know the pain they put others' through.
