Questions about a backround check?
I have had to go and find a new job for the first time in about five years and since then ive recieved a misdemeanor battery charge for a fight in a bar. Its the only thing ive ever had on my criminal record and it was in another state. I was wondering if that type of thing will show up on a criminal backround check. Any input would be great, thanks.

I believe it depends on how in depth of one they do. They can do two different versions and certain things show up on each. I hope someone that is more knowledgeable comes in with something since I am not really certain.

Lot of diff. factors
1. Type of job applying for( may not matter)
2. Were you convicted or just charged.
3. Some states fail or just do not share state/county level issues.
4. Was the charge assualt or disturbing piece?
Anyway unless its a high security or Federal job the odds of this being an issue are not huge.
Based on my experince anyway..Hope it helps

Yeah I meant to add that as well. I don't see it being a problem, just if they bring it up be honest about what happened be prepared to discuss it just in case it comes up in the interview. Think about what you want to say aboutthe incident before you head in for an interview. That way you aren't caught off guard.

Most places are looking for theft, fraud or drug charges that sorta thing, if you had a history of violence it would be an issue but most likely a simple fight will be given a chance for an explanation at the least.

And depending on the company or agency??? Is it a government job local or fed??? In short some go deeper than others, in reality if you have ever been charged with anything...its gonna show up, you need to get a good attorney and get it expounged from your record, thats of course assuming you got an attorney for the battery charge, if you were adjudicated no contest, or guilty....you cannot get it exponged.....
EDIT: What was the outcome???
