You're in for a treat! Clash of Kings, Storm of Swords (both volumes) are absolutely fantastic reads. Feast for Crows I found a bit tough going, but the series starts going back in the right direction with Dance With Dragons (and, Feast for Crows becomes a better book after you read DwD imo)

Just found out that a man I've known my entire life and grew up calling uncle was murdered this morning in his own house by his 38 year old, never do well,crack head, stepson.

Now the man's nephew, my brother since we were small boys, is out looking for the killer.
