I don't know about gun control but maybe we should just give up on Florida, see if we can make a trade with Cuba.

American's have the right to have them, guns are a large part of American history. The government will never take away guns, millions of people have them (and millions of people don't use them to harm others). On that note, guns don't kill people, maniacs do. You'd have to take away blades, bats, and your hands and feet to prevent people from killing others, and even then psychos would find a way.
I just ate Chinese food, they are open until 10PM here, which I just found out today. They are open every single day from 8-10PM, how crazy is that? It's a family restaurant, run by family, it's not like it's a big business that hires people to come in at different hours, the same people are there all day.

What's the murder rate in the US compared to the UK? I think those figures would be interesting.

As of 2011, out of 72 countries, UK is rank #13 in murder rate (lower number being less crime) and USA is #28, with the UK having 62 million population, and USA have 311 million. So, at minimum, there are 44 more countries in the world that have a higher murder rate than America, it's a pretty civil place to live against both countries with high gun regulation and without.
On a side note, it's burning hot here tonight for some reason. Summer is here, sure, but it's never this hot. I actually have my screens open.

For comparisons to be realistic I think it is fair that we only include first world nations and measure by how many murders per 100,000 people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._homicide_rate
Russia is no.1, Estonia 2, US 3, Latvia 4, Finland 5, Canada 6, Czech Republic 7, New Zealand 8, UK 9, Australia 10.
The USA's murder rate is almost 5x Australia's. Why is this?

Why is the UK's murder rate higher than Japan? Germany? Spain? Austria? You guys must be some pretty crazy psychos over there.
There is an assortment of reasons why some countries have higher murder rates than other, one being that America has 4 times as many people than the UK, literally we can stack every person in the UK 4 times here, you are bound to have 4 times as many crazy people that are willing to murder.
If we didn't have guns here, people would be killing with other objects (they do already). Guns are a tool, the same way we used to use clubs and rocks to murder, it's an object, the human mind is what murders.

I am from Australia. This is all done on a ratio though, so it would mean you have more psychopaths per 100 people. I'm surprised the murder rate isn't higher in the UK because there's so many people in such a small area there.
If people are carrying guns and they know they can use them to defend themselves then you are going to have a lot more people shot dead in moments of heat. In Australia if you have an argument with somebody you are either going to have a fist fight and leave it at that or if the guy is a real psycho then he'll have a knife. But a knife is a lot easier to get away from than a gun.
Allowing people to have guns would be fine in a utopian society but the fact is there are people that misuse them and pulling a trigger is a lot easier for someone to do than beating someone with a blunt object or stabbing them until they die.

Out of the 311,000,000 people in America, 300,000,000 own a gun. 60,000 people get shot per year in America (both dying and surviving the wound, this is not talking about accidental shootings, this is purely trying to murder someone).
That means that out of all the people who own guns in America, 0.2% of them try to kill others with them.

Guns aren't the problem.

Guns being "legal" or not won't matter. Criminals will always find a way to obtain them. Gun control only keeps the guns out of the good guys hands and empowers the bad guys.
Imagine if one off duty cop or civilian with a ccw was in the Colorado movie theatre? The story would have had a very different ending...
Also, Americans are typically more violent than most other countries. That's due to a variety of reasons. Guns are not one of them.
