It's just hard to do with a busy schedule and I keep getting injured in the training camps. At least when my time does come round I'll be even more prepared I guess but just sucks just now. Gonna vent at the Thai class tonight so feel better after that!

Going pro is serious man. It takes more dedicatation than I can put in. I like working with guys in camp and training but its just a different animal to be the one fighting.
Do you have someone setting up your camps? And overseeing everything? That is the advice I give to everyone. Find a guy with his head on his shoulders, he doesn't need to be a sports guru, just dedicated so you know he won't screw you over. I watch tape for guys and work with them on gameplans and help them organize their camp. I'm not a head coach just somebody that can get the work out of the way so they can train.

Yah I was talking to every single friend who trains. We all agreed working, or going to school, weight training, MT class, followed by BJJ grappling is too taxing on the body.
I respect the fighters because it really is a full time job to train. They train in the morning (cardio), afternoon (drills), and in the evenings (weight training/sparrin). Hardcore. On top of that it cost so much money to train in a high quality facility, gear, supplements, and grocery.
Sadly I've trained off and on and went back to weight lifting although I hit the bags in the gym so I guess I'm still lightly training.
Looks like you have your mind set so you should go for it and see how it turns out! Who knows within a year you'll have the "Combat Expert" tag. Kudos to Hit for that one...haha.

Working hard on a project of mine that's due on the 18th! I like cutting it close, so I have a few busy days ahead of me - just the way I like it

Read a few of the previous posts... It's definitely not something you can jump straight into. Right now im working out 5 days a week, followed by a full time manual labor job (40+ hours a week), followed by ~4 hours of training 4 days a week. It's definitely taxing. It wasn't that hard of a transition to me as i have always been involved in something. It was either football, wrestling, or weights + cardio that required all my extra time when i was still in school. But yes, there are many days when i come home, aching all over, go to sleep and wake up sore as titos wife after having a 4 hour orgy BUT I still go through my day to day schedule and it DOES get better.
My advice, Stick with it. You might have to gradually get to the point where your body can take it.. but you can get there.
Now of course im not a pro fighter and training/fighting is not my job so i can not say how hard it is to do that full time... but you CAN get to the point where you can do it as a competitive hobby.

Aw man, was hoping that the cold was a small thing but it seems it's at least a half-weeker. Headaches, feeling dizzy, runny (?) nose to the point that it's all red and lost my taste for food..
Who here has never caught a cold?

I have trained Thai Boxing for like 4 years, BJJ for 2. I wouldn't have my first MMA fight unless I wasn't working at all.
Something that I consider wise is going to Thailand and spending a month in a training camp and they will set you up for a fight.. It's cheap and you can live in the camp. If you already have decent hands you will excel.

My coaches are unbelievably great, they set gameplans up that are always spot on, push you until your cardio is great and you are physically strong as hell or they will just not let you fight. You have to be ready and not just you thinking you are ready they make you know if you're ready. If it was up to most here people then they would just jump in the cage and brawl like most people in Scotland do (MMA is still kinda dark ages here with the exception of some really good gyms).
Been doing striking for about 4 years now and the MMA aspects for 3 but still not fought. I was too busy but over the last few months my masters project got delayed by about 6 months so I couldn't do anything until the materials arrived which was perfect so I could fight as I had plenty of time to be dedicated to training but things were just not meant to be.
Only recently got into the power lifting aspects and think cause I was new to it my body just really struggled. Didn't help I got a sports massage after the old neck went and the first thing the lady said was "oh what did you do to your spine? You have suffered severe trauma there at some point when you were young". Only thing I can think of was when I tried to be a power ranger at 4 years old, done a backflip of a tree and landed on my neck and I ****ed my spine up and my body built around that so I have a weird spine set up going on. The parents say it was a miracle I didn't break my neck.
