I am thinking about when I am going to go down by the beach to get a crap ton of fireworks and things of that nature for this weekend! It is going to be a good one. No work on Monday either!!!

I had an interview for a legal secretary job today that went well IMO. The attorney told me I was the leading candidate because of my experience.

I'm praying that my former boss gives me the good reference that he told me he would when my position was eliminated last year. He has no reason to screw me over, but I really want this job and I'm paranoid.

Good luck Swp! I hope that you get the job! Unless your previous employer is just flat out mean, I don't see why they wouldn't give you an excellent recommendation!

I hope so, guys. I would love to work in the legal field again. I liked my previous job and was devastated when the position was eliminated due to a slowdown in business, as some of you may remember.

I feel like I did the best I could do, and now I just have to wait.

Two of my favorite shows were/are on back to back, The Whitest Kids U' Know and Freaks and Geeks. IFC keeps getting better and better.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal if you ask if them if they will give you a positive reference and they say that they will, then don't.

No, it's the same as a reference. You only put people you trust on your resume for that reason. It would be dirty and immoral, but not illegal.

On a side note, I just realized that my $10 data connection to my PC is as fast as my $60 hub from Verizon. (My PCS phone isn't with Verizon, but the hub is.)

In most states, including NY, it is actionable. My former boss knows this, and it is also a small city (40,000) and we frequently encounter him socially, and he would know that I knew that he did that. I really do not think he would, partly because he has no basis upon which to do so, partly because there are legal implications that he is well aware of, and partly because I'd hate to have to tell L&M to make the pin placements brutal when L&M knew my former boss (who is a member at the country club where L&M is management) was golfing.

He also, I'm hoping, has some sort of honor wherein he realizes that giving me a good reference is not only accurate, but the right thing to do based on the work I did for him.
