It's amazing how many people that kill other people's fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, and children feel like they're just fine to drive. There's a reason why they call it "courage in a shot", you think you're a lot more capable than you really are.

I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't going to mention it till I saw the "I don't have to be 100% for the ride home" part. God I wish your dumb ass hadn't passed so you would possibly have learned a lesson.

In that time I only had 1 beer (8 oz of another beer approximately) and 2 vodka drinks with splashes of tonic. I then left the bar to drive home which is about 30 miles from where I work and was drinking.
When I exited the interstate there was a road block. I thought I would be fine. I felt no effects of alcohol at all. I was feeling so sober that I almost forgot I drank so recently. Well, I am sure it didn't smell that way to the police. Cop walks up to my window and I hand him the license and registration before he has to ask. He looks at me and i don't even open my mouth. He ask me how to say my last name and I pronounce it for him. (It is is a unique name). He says where have you been tonight. I tell him that I got off of work at 10 went to a bar with some friends and hung out at my friends house after that to make sure the alcohol was out of my system before driving home. He tells me to pull up and wait in front of another car. The other guy was getting arrested. I thought I was f-cked.
I get out and he gives me the follow-my-finger test with feet together, flashlight in the eye, and hands by the side. That was easy to follow his finger but it was hard to keep my eyes open while a maglite is shining in my retinas. I think I mght have swayed a little bit during the test too.
Then he gets the breathalizer for me. It is go-time. This is it. I blew a .079. I was thinking holy shit. He looked at it and I snuck my peak. He said you just barely made it. I said yeah, I saw that. He said get your ass home. You got lucky.
I thought to myself, this is bullshit. I mean .08 is the most ridiculously low thing ever. I felt absolutely sober. I am sittting down driving a car not trying to win a nascar race. I mean I am not performing surgery. I don't need to be at 100% focus for the ride home. It is almost routine at this point anyway. I would have been really upset if I failed the breathalizer. Might have resisted arrest even (yeah probably not).

Alcohol checkpoint stuff like that is really messed up imho. It's not legal in a lot of states.

Wow, so now ANYONE who drinks at all before driving is a douche? He was under the limit, I don't see why he becomes a douche for having three drinks in an evening before driving home. That's really not much, hell I would barely even feel a buzz from that.

Yeah the same could be said about any number of untimely deaths. You are an idiot to assume I would have gotten behind the wheel if I felt even the slightest bit unable to drive.

I wish your schizophrenic family member gets violent and goes to jail, we all have our wishes. Like I said, I was fine to drive. .08 doesn't affect all people the same and it is ridiculous to make that a standard for all people.

Other countries have lower levels such as Bio pointed out about Austrailia.

I think families that have lost members to gun crime know what you are talking about too. Only that was intentional. This is a case of me being completely fine. And if I weren't I would have not been behind the wheel.
To those that want to continue to judge me or call me names. Get a ******* clue and don't make assumptions.

Actually... you're the idiot for thinking that you would be able to accurately judge how fit you were to drive after you've had a few drinks. Even though you were a tiny touch under the limit, you simply cannot have that alcohol level and still be 100%. Sure, you felt like it, but that didn't make it so.
It's douchebags that say "No, I'm good to drive, I feel fine" that kill people. If you're going to drink, have someone else drive. And if you have to say "Don't judge me", then it's pretty much a given that what you were doing was wrong.
Just last week I got to sit in my brother's DUI trial, and see a whole lot of people who thought they were just fine to drive, too. My brother is going to jail, and I'm kind of glad. As much as I love him, he just doesn't take drinking and driving seriously, even after his first DUI. So the judge is rightfully giving him a reason to take it seriously. Hopefully you'll start taking it seriously on your own, before someone else (or someone else's death) forces you to.

What you can tolerate is not the same as what a 110 lb girl can tolerate. And size doesn't quite matter once your behind a 3k lb vehicle doing atleast 40-60.

lol dude, you must be like 100lbs.
If I had 4 shots of vodka in my car a few minutes before being pulled over I would blow around a .07

No you would not. You obviously have no idea how a breathalizer works. You would blow over the legal limit, doesn't mean you would be drunk because everyone has different tolerances but you would definetly blow over the legal limit if you had 4 shots and then got pulled over. Drinking 2 beers in an hour is enough to be legally drunk.
