Yeah... as cool as that pistol is, I don't think that's the best choice for your mom. Snub-nosed Cassuls are only for masochists.

She outta just spring for the SW500 snubby
She might just want to stick to a small 357. Lots of options for ammo. 38spl 38+p 357 etc. If its just for self defense 357 should be more than enough and its a lot easier to shoot.

This is a good Idea, thats exactly what my dad got for my mom 20 years ago and its still the only one she likes, my dad has one also, although I recently convinced him to try a simi auto .40, he wants a glock, I carry a Sig. ( in the winter). I am going to spring for the 1911 this summer..

Friend is thinking about selling his 1911 RIA in 38 super. I've heard this is a more powerful round than 9mm? Any experiences? He wants 350$ and I'm thinking about buying it.

Price is ok, that gun is $370 new (add tax), so you save 50 bucks going used, depending how used it is.
I'd go 9mm if given a choice between the two. It's a lot cheaper to shoot. Power between the two is not much, especially +P 9mm.
9 bucks for 50 rounds = 9mm
16 bucks for 50 rounds = 38 super
That being said. If you only shoot once in awhile, the price difference won't be a deal breaker in ammo.

New folder for the AK freshly installed. Broke the upper wood piece while trying on the black plastic. Guess I'll get a matching black lower since the wood won't match if I buy a replacement.

Thanks for the info good sir, I ended up passing on the gun because you are right. I'll keep my 1911s in 45
I'm thinking about getting this mossberg 100atr .270, anyone have an experience or opinions about it?
