If it makes you guys feel any better, I have a non-verbal learning disability. So essentially, all British humor to me is a bunch of idiotic babble since British humor is primarily based on wit, sarcasm, and non-verbal communication. I have a girl in one of my classes who is British, from Sunderland specifically, and while she's a sweet girl, sometimes I can barely understand her. I have to keep reminding her sometimes to "give it to me straight" because she communicates based on wit, hints, sarcasm, and non-verbal communication. She probobly thinks I'm some humorless American bimbo.
It's just different styles of communication, which ironically, despite Americans and Brits speaking the same language, is probobly our biggest difference culturally.
