By now I'm thinking the engine will be nearly finished but noticed I was sent the incorrect intake gasket. I could have substituted silicone but would rather have the correct gasket.
Sprayed the intake manifold off again with brake cleaner and set it on to get an idea how she'll look when finished.
Sure do like the look of the orange. Glad I was talked into it
Water pump will be here come Tuesday along with the correct intake gasket. Gotta scrounge up a few things here and there, miscellaneous fasteners, pulleys, etc. Seems to be going together almost too well. Hopefully I won't encounter any snags for a few days. Thanks for reading and by all means, post a reply I can use all the encouragement I get.

Called the Novak place I got the transmission from for directions on installation and found out they put the wrong adapter on it. It wouldn't be so bad but the main shaft that holds all the bearings is different as well. So, I'll be shipping it back to them to put the correct shaft in and adapter on.
Really getting pissed off at those guys. The only bright spot will be the amount of shipping they will have paid when this is all sorted out. It'll end up at over $700 if nothing else goes wrong.
Not much else to report. Bought a water pump and ordered an HEI distributor. Bout $200 for the pair. Plan to get back on it tomorrow night.

Don't you think your driveshaft should be a little longer and the clutch a little better? The way you present it, makes it look like a kiddie car to me.
You should also go for the german kind of engine regulators and spanish flies on the conundrum side of the fuel exhaust.
What's the total sum of everything you've put in it? How much is there left to do on it to get you rollin' in the mud again?

You aren't getting any comments because except for coq de combat no one here knows enough to tell you what you're doing wrong.
We are just interested observers who love the pix and wish you'd get off your lazy ass and get this done.
Been wondering what you think of the new truck kits.
edit: Ps. which side is the conundrum side again? I always forget.

It's the one that's facing the carbulator, right under the gas axel. Didn't you know that?

I started tallying up what I have in it so far and got to $10,000 with nothing but the big items. I'd guess 12-14 total.
It could go mudding tonight if I wanted to but I have much more to do before it's done like I want it. Have to swap the axles, go through the transfer case, swap over the steering and brakes, etc...The engine and transmission is the slow part. Once that's in it I should make progress faster.

I never thought about it like that, thought there would be at least a few motorheads on here. Pheelgood has a pretty cool car that he did the work on but I can't think of anyone else.
I do wish it was coming along faster but I need to take my time on this first part so I don't screw something up. The tranny place isn't doing me any favors either. Probably be another couple weeks before I get it back and was wanting to put the engine and trans in at the same time. It'll be alot easier if I can put the clutch on with the engine out of the jeep instead of laying under it.
Thanks for reading guys and I should have some new stuff up tonight

Have you thought about finding a spare body to use for rust repair? My nieghbor is currently restoring a Land cruiser, and welded the front end to the back end of two different bodies to skip alot of rust work. I know nothing about Jeeps, more of a toyota, and I guess dodge head since I did a 5spd swap in place of the auto my dodge cummins had. So I can't really give much pointers for how to build your jeep, I like the thread though. It's always nice seeing how people go about building their project.

Ya, I'm not doing any bodywork. Don't have the parience for it. I'm gonna take all the good stuff off the white one and put it on the red one than repaint it white.
Here's a cool pic.
In this one you can see the bumper in the back of the jeep. The frame was so rusted that when someone tried to pull me backwards it pulled the frame apart at the shackles.
While trying to get unstuck I was shifting a little too aggressively and pulled the shifter up out of the tranny
For the record, I was high centered not stuck and I am definitely not the skanky, scrawny dude on the right.
