i went with belfort, he may not be the worst pick, but someone had already gotten overeem and the diaz brothers, i think belfort will get past johnson and maybe win his next fight but he wont get past anderson or chael for sure

So im curious who you guys think is the worst pick??? If you think its my pick "Palhares" then go ahead and say so. Im not going to mind. I think he is a good pick because he isnt ranked high but has all the skills necessary to be champion if Anderson wasnt around. So i see him picking up safe wins against scrubs. Opinion?

And TBH he is actually an interesting fight for Anderson. Decent takedowns with crazy submission skills. He wont let Anderson slip out because he didnt wanna break his leg. Andersons arm/leg will snap as soon as he gets a hold of it.
Carlos Condit, imo is one of the worst so far. (no offense btw)
Condit, even if wins against Nick (which imo is 50/50), probably loses to GSP, and who knows how long he'll have to wait. I highly doubt he'll fight more than 2 times this year . There are a bunch of guys who I also think will fight no more than 2 fights this year, Sonnen probably, JDS, maybe Vitor.

I'm a little disappointed in my own pick. I picked JDS because I thought him and Overeem could fight soon but minutes after my pick somebody posted that the UFC "hopes" to have it in the summer. So if it ends up being late summer he might only fight once.

I had thought about getting Chael since he is fighting soon and if he wins and doesn't get injured he could fight Anderson decently quick (been a while since Andy fought) and win or lose that would be main event championship points. And then he could maybe fight once more again.

But who knows anything could happen. Maybe JDS will fight early summer, win and fight every month after that

You know i had a VERY similar train of thoughts as you did. Only thing is i am wondering how soon can Chael actually fight Andy. The reason that fight didnt happen is because Anderson is injured. Now i dont know how serious it is but if he cant start training for another 2-3 months then it will probably be a while. Because if in 2 months he can start light sparring then it will probably be another month or 2 before he can go 100% and then he would need a 2 month training camp so the fight wouldnt be 5-6 months from now. Do you know the details of his injuries?

Honestly I forgot he was hurt so no, I don't know the details. But a quick google check says that he could return in June. But thats not to far off of when I was thinking him and Chael could fight. So assuming Chael wins and fights Andy in June he could fight again in 2012.

If he could be in the octagon by June then thats actually a good date. If Chael wins that fight then he gets title points and i can see chael getting another 2 fights in within those 6 months. That would turn out to be one hell of a pick.

I personally think Alastair Overeem and Anderson Silva are horrible picks. Allstair just fought so he wont be fighting JDS till summer. And after that fight who is next??? First of all the chances of him losing are high and then second of all HWs do not fight often. So even if he wins he isnt exactly this point racking pick. I doubt the guy will fight more then twice this year. If he fights in summer then he will get another fight in 3-4 months later and thats probably it until early 2013.

Anderson Silva is for sure not fighting 3x this year. This is the year thats most likely for him to lose since he is fighting Chael. And then he only has a few fights remaining so they are going to wait longer to make sure they are the correct fights. And if Anderson does lose... thats gonna stink point wise.

I'd say Overeem's chances of winning are quite good. And....if he has the fight in May/June, and let's say he wins in 2nd or third round, and at the same time your pick Palhares even wins 2 fights and finishes both of them, Overeem would still bring me more points (Title fight, main event). And I'm pretty sure he'll fight 2-3 times this year which means a great number of points to me

Yeah im sure the guy who picked him would obviously look at it that way. I was actually surprised at your response and went to check who you picked. Surprise surprise haha All i can say is good luck.

I see it playing out more like Overeem loses and takes 5 months off after the loss.

btw... how did you get more points out of that then 2 fights from Palhares? Wanna break it down for me??? cause if i give you the title fight/win/main event you dont exactly double the points i would get from a similar win minus the title fight/main event.
