MMA - beginner

Hello folks, I have just started training MMA, although I don't have any boxing/kicking/grappling skills, but I consider myself a good athlete, with solid amount of muscle and condition ( have been hitting gym for the past 6 months ), it can always be better..

By now I had 2 trainings, I managed to complete full training like everyone else, but when I tried , hm it can't be called sparing because it isn't that, we were working on boxing techniques and I was terrible, I don't know whether it is some kind of fear, lack of boxing skills, or the opponent was much stronger. I felt like a little kid .

Should I spar with weaker(beginners) , or?

What are the essential things for improving in MMA?

Did you spar at home with a friend or what? First thing you should do is look up the local MMA gyms and join one of them. It's extremely difficult to get a proper training without one.

You can go from there, under your trainers instructions.

No I spar at the club, this is the only MMA club in my town, so I should be more than satisfied with this one.

Getting tooled by someone who's been training far longer than yourself is part of the humbling experience that you go through in every martial art out there.

You should be sparring and training with people a little above your level most of the time - then test it against someone even better...

You won't learn as much if you're always winning

I remember the first time i attended a BJJ class and I was doing OK with the other newbies - came in the next time and rolled with a (theoretical, no gi) blue belt and I was tapped in litteraly seconds! I felt so dissappointed in myself, but then I changed my mind and willed myself to get better.
When I finally caught him (after many sessions) it just felt that much sweeter

Our instructors don't let us spar til after a year then it's on. When they go...they go at it hard. So with that said I think you should train your technique first and not be so quick. Fighting is like an art there's so much to learn; parry, learning how to block even, then head movement, foot work and then striking combinations. I love it when I see people go crazy...they usually tire themselves out. If you really want to spar...go with your instructor cuz he'll know how to control himself and not hurt you in the process ala Cerrone vs the kid...lolz!

Good luck!
