Wanting to start a Martial Art / MMA
So I love watching MMA, and I decided it was about time I got into shape and I thought MMA would be a great way to do that.
There is an MMA gym not too far from where I live that has MMA classes, gi / no gi BJJ classes and muay thai classes. MMA is what interests me the most, but I would really prefer to do a martial art for a few months before starting the MMA class, just to lay the ground work so i'm not starting MMA a complete beginner. BJJ interests me quite a bit, it seems to be a very dominant style within the MMA scene, but it seems as if a lot of the stuff you learn with a gi becomes obselete when competing in MMA. I like the belt system within gi BJJ, but I training in no gi seems like it would be a lot more beneficial when I eventually make the transition to MMA. SO I guess my question is, what do you think would be the best way to train BJJ / MMA simultaneously to get the most out of both disciplines? Thanks for reading! |
a lot of BJJ classes/gyms will have a no Gi class. Failing that, BJJ with a gi, is better than no BJJ at all right?
Go along got the gym and find out exactly what they offer. |
