Muah Thai VS BJJ

So theres a couple of gyms around me but neither one offers both muah thai and bjj.

One school is MMA and muah thai kickboxing
http://www.westcoastfightteam.com/#m

and the other is BJJ
http://www.fbjjonline.com/

So which fighting style do you like most, I'm leaning more towards Muah Thai Kick boxing, but A LOT of my friends say since I'm only 5'6 I should join BJJ.

I don't know, I really wanna be more of a striker but may I should do BJJ

HELP ME DECIDE

Do whichever you are most interested in. Doesn't matter how big you are at
all.if you prefer MTthen go for it.

What does your size have to do with anything? That makes no sense at all. Do whatever you will have the most fun doing, period.

Well, He said since I'll have a shorter reach that I'll need to get my opponent to the ground quicker.

Which one do you do?

HitOrGetHit 04-27-2012 12:01 PM

Who in the world are you talking to that is telling you this? Longer reach does not mean that you will lose because of it. Especially in competition since you can find a weight class that suits you.

If you are talking purely self defense, I doubt some random guy that picks a fight will know how to properly use his reach anyway.

Its not everything. I mean hell Frankie Edgar is smaller than some 145ers and is still top 5 at 155. Roy Nelson KO'd Struve, Couture dropped Sylvia. Reach isn't everything and if you take up grappling instead of what you really want to do, you will more than likely not get as much out of it.

An idiot apparently,

And thanks!! I think I'm gonna take up muah thai! :D

I know Faber uses muah thai.

Does anyone know any other professional fighters that use muah thai so I can review there fighting tecniques and junk. and just see how they fight.

Any fighter that uses Muay Thai? All of them.

For technique purposes, Amir Sodallah.

Yeah that was a dumb question,

i guess i mean, specializes in muah thai

and I'll look him up thanks!

HitOrGetHit 04-27-2012 12:16 PM

Go watch Anderson Silva's fights against Rich Franklin. Thiago Alves specializes in MT as well.

But there are TONS more.

Since you say every professional fighter uses muah thai does that mean some time in my career I should take up BJJ
