Advice on training schedule
Hi folks - I am getting started at an mma gym with the goal of getting into awesome shape and getting some well rounded training while I have fun. (I have no delusions of getting into the cage anytime soon.)
I'm trying to figure out how to make the best use of the classes offered. (I've left off the advanced ones.)
M: Boxing/Conditioning, Boxing, Muay Thai
T: Boxing/Conditioning, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling/MMA
R: GI BJJ, Boxing, Wrestling/MMA
S: No Gi BJJ, Open Sparring, Muay Thai
S: Open Sparring
The conditioning classes are in the AM. Everything else is in the evening. A number of the classes above are back to back (e.g., Boxing -> Muay Thai, Boxing -> Wrestling.)
My plan is to use the conditioning classes supplemented with running / spinning 2-3x/week to build and keep up a strong cardio base.
With that, a few questions:
In terms of getting started with the classes (and realizing these classes will solidly kick my ass) what would be a good sample weekly schedule and pointers on when to add something new into the mix?
If I'm looking to get the most fitness bang for the time should I start and focus on one form over another in the beginning?
Do people generally switch styles by day (focus on Boxing M,W and wrestling/BBJ T,R)?
Or do people generally do back-to-backs (Boxing into grappling) in order to get a more effective workout?
Appreciate your thoughts / feedback!
On first glance, leave a day off for your body to recuperate and recharge, you may be taking on too much with that schedule.
I should clarify - that's the schedule for the gym, not my planned schedule.
I'm looking more for advice on ways to structure the week using the classes offered in the schedule.
