So i was on holiday last week and ruptured my achilles tendon. Doctors did surgery and im in a cast for months and will be six months before i walk properly again. Doctors advised against contact sports after it heals even boxing because you are always on your toes. I want to learn mma but dont know if its a dumb idea or not or whether to get back into boxing because its less stress on my leg and no risk of getting a hammering kick to my leg to re-rupture my tendon. Never done mma or anything like that in my life. Just boxing. Thoughts guys?

It depends if you risk permanent loss of your leg or not. Maybe you can get dropped in an MMA fight and won't be able to fight again because of another injury, but at least you got in there and tried to do it.

Wouldnt be permanent loss. Just out of action for another six months and back to poverty and sick pay because i couldnt work

It depends on what you need the money for then. If you have a family and shit then you've got obligations, but if it's just you then if you're that into fighting, you'd probably be cool being broke for a while to follow it. I currently spend all but €1 of my income on martial arts because I don't have kids or anything. Shit will change when I do but Im getting the most out of free life haha

Nah nothing like that. I just live with my girlfriend and i cant watch her work 24/7 trying to support us both and pay most of everything because im on sick pay. But no dependants or anything like that

Well she can't really say much when you're legs in a cast you know. It's not like she's supporting you because you're the only stepping in to get punched in the face to support yourself, and if you get an injury then that's just a risk of the trade.
